Liverpool currently sits in second place in the standings having picked up two points. Liverpool last weekend faced off agains Arsenal and they played to a 2–2 draw. They fell behind early, but Mohamed Salah scored in the 81st minute to tie up the game and pick up a point. Liverpool had 56 percent of the possession and four shots on target. Even though they allowed only three shots on target, the defense did show some holes.

On Wednesday in the EFL Cup, Liverpool was able to secure the 3-2 victory. Cody Gakpo scored twice. Liverpool is dealing with a couple of key injuries including Harvey Elliott, Diogo Jota, Federico Chiesa and Alisson Becker all still out with injury. 

Can Brighton Make Statement? 

Brighton comes into this game sitting in 6th place in the standings having picked up 16 points so far this season. Last Saturday, Brighton faced off against the Wolves and they played to a 2-2 draw. In the midweek game against Liverpool, they were competitive, but they ended up losing 3-2. Tariq Lamptey scored in the 90th minute but by that point it was too little too late. Matt O’Riley and Joao Pedro are both dealing with injuries but both could be healthy enough to make an apperence in this game.

There was plenty of goals in the midweek game in the EFL Cup and it’s going to be much of the same here. I really don’t trust this Brighton defense and Liverpool is going to put on a show with their offense. I do expect Brighton’s offense is going to score a couple of goals, and this game is going to go over the total. Back the over.
