Turkey recorded 16 total shots, eight shots on target, and had 53% of the possession. Turkey has played one other friendly this year, which was a 4-0 win over North Macedonia. 

Turkey has qualified for three other World Cups, as they finished third in 2002, lost in the Group Stage in 1954, and withdrew in 1950. In 2002, Turkey lost to Brazil 2-1, drew Costa Rica 1-1, and defeated China 3-0 in the Group Stage, before defeating Japan 1-0, defeating Senegal 1-0, losing to Brazil in the Semi-final, and defeating South Korea in the third place match. In qualifying, Turkey defeated Romania 1-0 and Kosovo 1-0 in their last two matches to qualify.

Turkey comes into the World Cup for the first time in over 20 years and they will look to continue their magic from 2002. Turkey was able to take advantage of a rather weak qualifying schedule, so it will be interesting to see how they do here. Australia has plenty of World Cup experience and they are coming off of a solid draw with the Swiss.
