In that draw, Switzerland led 1-0 in the 14th minute, but they allowed a goal in the 56th minute for the tie. Switzerland recorded nine total shots, three shots on target, and had 63% of the possession. Switzerland has played three other friendlies in recent months: a 4-1 win over Jordan, a 0-0 draw with Norway, and a 4-3 loss to Germany. 

Switzerland has qualified for the World Cup 12 times, with their best finish being in the Quarter-finals in 1934, 1938, and 1954. Switzerland has qualified for five straight World Cups and they have made the Round of 16 in four of those five. In 2022, Switzerland defeated Cameroon 1-0, lost to Brazil 1-0, and defeated Serbia 3-2 in the Group Stage, before losing to Portugal 6-1 in the Round of 16. In qualifying, Switzerland finished first in their group with 14 points, which was three points better than Kosovo in second place.

Switzerland comes into this matchup with plenty of World Cup experience and they are a big favorite to get the win. Switzerland has been very good in the World Cup since 2006 and they are a strong defensive team. Qatar is playing in just their second World Cup and they are looking for their first victory.  Qatar has struggled to score in their last five matches and it won’t get any easier against this Swiss defense. I think Switzerland is the much better side in this matchup and I like them to win by at least two goals here. Take Switzerland -1.5 in this one.
