Why the Oilers will beat the Capitals

  • The Capitals have lost six of their last seven day games on the second leg of a back-to-back.
  • The Oilers have won five of their last six road games on the second leg of a back-to-back.
  • The Capitals have failed to cover the puck line in 12 of their last 14 day games at Capital One Arena following a road win.
  • The Oilers have covered the puck line in each of their last three road games against the Capitals following a road loss.
  • The Capitals have lost the third period in five of their last six games as home underdogs against Western Conference opponents when trailing after the second period.

  • The ‘Over 1.5 Goals Period 1′ market has hit in seven of the Oilers’ last eight games following a road loss.

Edmonton Oilers vs Washington Capitals Prediction

Both of these teams played on Saturday afternoon, but Edmonton lost against the Flyers, while Washington picked up a win over the Penguins. The Capitals are 17-4-6 at home this year, while the Oilers are 16-8-2 on the road. Edmonton has lost four of their last six games and they have allowed 11 goals in their last two games. Washington continues to be one of the best teams in the NHL this season, but they will be using Lindgren in net, who is a sizable downgrade from Thompson. This should be a great game and I do expect a better defensive effort from Edmonton, but I am going to fade Lindgren here. Take the Oilers on the road.
