The Houston Texans and the Los Angeles Rams meet in week 1 NFL action from SoFi Stadium on Sunday. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Houston Texans vs. Los Angeles Rams prediction.

Houston Texans Team Preview

The Houston Texans enter 2025 after finishing 10–7 in 2024, winning the AFC South and a wild-card playoff game before falling in the divisional round. The offseason brought significant roster turnover. The team traded Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil to Washington, acquiring multiple draft picks, and addressed the offensive line by signing veteran Cam Robinson and other linemen while moving on from Kenyon Green. The secondary was boosted with safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson arriving via trade. Running back Nick Chubb was added on a one-year deal to deepen the backfield. In the draft, without a first-round selection, Houston used its top pick at No. 34 overall on wide receiver Jayden Higgins from Iowa State. Leadership also saw changes: offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik was fired after the 2024 season and replaced by former Rams assistant Nick Caley. With a restructured offensive line, added weapons, and new play-caller, the Texans look to defend their division title and take the next step in 2025.

Los Angeles Rams Team Preview

The Los Angeles Rams enter 2025 after a 10–7 season that secured an NFC West title and included a Wild Card win over Minnesota before falling to Philadelphia in the divisional round. The offseason brought sweeping changes, highlighted by the release of longtime star Cooper Kupp, who signed with Seattle, and the arrival of All-Pro wideout Davante Adams on a two-year deal to replace him. The Rams also reinforced the offensive line by adding veteran tackle D.J. Humphries and re-signing center Coleman Shelton, while former Cardinals starter Cam Robinson was brought in after Jonah Jackson was traded to Chicago. On defense, Los Angeles added tackle Poona Ford but lost contributors including Joe Noteboom, Michael Hoecht, Bobby Brown III, and Demarcus Robinson. In the draft, the Rams did not have a first-round pick, making Oregon tight end Terrance Ferguson their top choice in the second round, followed by Michigan edge rusher Josaiah Stewart in the third. On the sidelines, Sean McVay remains head coach, with Mike LaFleur continuing as offensive coordinator, while Chris Shula steps in as defensive coordinator following Raheem Morris’s departure to Atlanta. Only time will tell if the Rams can stay the course in the once again competitive NFC West.

Houston Texans vs. Los Angeles Rams Prediction

I’m initially leaning towards the Texans here as I’m just not 100% sold on Matthew Stafford being completely healthy for this game as Sean McVay has continued to say it’s day-to-day monitoring which isn’t good considering that the Texans have a nasty pass rush and a strong defense overall that can make life hell for any QB on their best day. I think the Texans are live to start with a win here so give me Houston here.
