Dallas Cowboys Betting Preview
Dallas hit a bit of a speed bump last year, to put things mildly. The Cowboys limped to the finish line with a 7-10 overall regular-season record, leaving the team in third place among the NFC East. Needless to say, that wasn’t good enough to qualify for the postseason (the first time that happened since 2020), nor was it anywhere near the Cowboys’ 12-5 record from the previous three seasons. It also marked the 20th straight year that the division didn’t have a repeat champion. Dallas struggled mightily at home, going 2-7 at AT&T Stadium alongside a comparatively rosy 5-3 road record.Â
Moving on to the 2025 campaign, the Cowboys will have a new face at head coach in Brian Schottenheimer. It’ll be their first year since 2013 without guard Zack Martin (retired) and DE DeMarcus Lawrence (signed with Seattle in free agency). Former Commander Dante Fowler will try to help seal the Lawrence void on a one-year contract. Draft-wise, Dallas picked up OG Tyler Booker (Alabama) in the first round) and DE Donovan Ezeiruaku (Boston College) to further plug the holes.Â
Los Angeles Rams Betting Preview
Over on the Rams’ side, they performed significantly better in the 2024 season, however their run ended in disappointment after a brief playoff stint. Los Angeles was able to equal their 10-7 regular-season mark from the previous season and ended up taking first place in the NFC West. It was the first time LA conquered the division since 2021 (the year they won the Super Bowl), and they did it thanks to a tiebreaker with the Seahawks. The Rams continued to roll in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs, dispatching the Vikings 27-9. After a tough matchup with the Eagles however, the Rams were sent packing by a score of 28-22 in the Divisional Round.Â
This will be Los Angeles’ ninth season under head coach Sean McVay. It’ll also be the first year since 2016 that the Rams don’t have Cooper Kupp on the roster, as he was released in the offseason and found his way to the aforementioned Seahawks. LA did quite a bit of wheeling and dealing in the draft this year, resulting in just two picks in the first three rounds. One was TE Terrance Ferguson (Oregon) in the second; the other was OLB Josaiah Stewart (Michigan) in the third.Â

Cowboys vs Rams PredictionÂ
I’m going to take a stab on the Cowboys here. That said—and as usual for an early preseason game—you could call it either way. Dallas will get a pretty good look at some of their younger and borderline players in this one, and it’ll serve as an opportune chance for Schottenheimer to get creative. It’s also a good thing that the Cowboys’ schedule is somewhat front-loaded this season; they will close things out with six of eight games versus teams who made the postseason in 2024.Â
As for LA, they should be in pretty good shape overall—they’ve just got to plug a few holes in key positions on both sides of the ball. The Rams have a reasonable schedule early in the season as well before a Week 8 bye following a London game against the Jaguars. We should get our first look at another playoff team here.
