A summary that ties it all together and produces a favorable betting outcome for the Bengals vs Browns game
The Bengals played in a pretty darn competitive AFC North last season, ultimately going 9-8 overall. That result was only good enough for third place in the division however, and caused Cincinnati to miss the playoffs for a second consecutive year. Still, the team rallied well after a rough 4-8 start, winning their final five outings.
In their first preseason action of the 2025 campaign versus the reigning champion Philadelphia Eagles, the Bengals gave up points in every quarter on the way to a 34-27 loss. QB Joe Burrow threw for 123 yards and two scores on 9-of-10 passing though, and Tanner Hudson logged two TDs off his six grabs for 62 yards. In game two versus the Washington Commanders, the Bengals scored 21 points in the second quarter alone during a 31-17 victory. Jake Browning did most of the throwing this time on 16-of-25 for 159 yards and two touchdowns. Mitchell Tinsley had five grabs for 73 yards and two scores as the top receiver.
Matched up against the Indianapolis Colts in the preseason finale, the Bengals gave up double-digit points in each of the first three quarters during a 41-14 blowout loss. QB Desmond Ridder went just 8-of-20 for 75 yards and an interception in that one.
Over on the Browns’ side, they limped to another disappointing season in 2024, landing in the basement of the AFC North with a 3-14 record. That result would obviously leave Cleveland out of the playoff picture and marked a drastic departure from an 11-6 run the season prior. That also makes 32 straight years without a division title.
Cleveland played the Carolina Panthers in their first preseason game this year and looked pretty good during a 30-10 win. Shedeur Sanders threw for 138 yards and two TDs on 14-of-23 passing, while Ahmani Marshall led the rush with a modest 32 yards on eight carries. In game two the Browns bagged another win 22-13 over the Philadelphia Eagles, scoring in every quarter along the way. Dillon Gabriel went 13-of-18 for 143 yards and an interception. Kaden Davis caught three balls for 44 yards to top the receiving corps.
In their preseason finale versus the Los Angeles Rams, the Browns went into the second half with a 16-7 edge and ultimately powered out the 19-17 win. Gabriel was 12-of-19 for 129 yards and a touchdown during the victory.

I’ll stick with Cleveland. It was a pretty solid preseason overall for the Browns, but the win over the Rams in game three wasn’t exactly pretty. Cleveland notches 256 yards (171 passing) on offense with 4.0 yards per play and 5-of-13 on third downs. The defense gave up 268 on the other side but only 14 first downs and 1-of-12 on third-down conversions. The Rams’ 12 penalties didn’t hurt, either. Sure, it was only a trio of exhibition games but the Browns were able to hold opponents to a combined 40 points across the preseason schedule, bagging a win each time. There’s still plenty to debate as far as Cleveland’s projections this season, but for now I think they’ll hold it together well enough to cover at home in an opener versus a divisional foe. Should be a fun one.
