Pittsburgh Steelers at Buffalo Bills - 10/9/22 NFL Picks and Prediction
The Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills face off on Sunday in a Week 5 NFL showdown at Bills Stadium. When these two teams faced off in 2021 it was the Steelers that secured the 23-16 victory.
The Steelers come into this game with a 1-3 record overall but the hope is that Kenny Pickett is just the boost this team needs to turn the season around. In the last game against the New York Jets, the Steelers were competitive, but they were outscored 14-7 in the 4th quarter and that led ot the four-point defeat. Mitchell Trubisky was pulled in the game, but Kenny Pickett completed 10 of his 13 passes for 120 yards, zero touchdowns, and three interceptions. The Steelers overall is averaging 18.5 points while their defense is giving up 22.5 points per game. The defense is going to need to be tested here, and they will need to be very good.
On the other side of this matchup is the Buffalo Bills who sit with a 3-1 record overall but they have shown a few holes in the last couple of games. The Bills were down 14-3 against the Ravens at the end of the first quarter before making the comeback late and securing the 23-20 victory. Josh Allen completed 19 of his 36 passes for 213 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He also rushed 11 times for 70 yards and a touchdown. One problem for the Bills is outside of Allen they don’t really have a running back to lean on to find success.
The Steelers are 2-5 in their last seven games on the road. The Bills are 4-0-1 against the spread in their last five home games. The under is 6-1 in the last seven meetings played between the two teams.
The Bills are no doubt the better team, but I think this is too many points. Pickett is just the spark the Steelers offense needs and they will find some success against this Bills defense. This also won’t be one of those games where the Bills score 30 or 40 points. The Steelers defense will step up to keep it within a couple of touchdowns. Back the Steelers against the spread.
