The Philadelphia 76ers have been in great shape as they’ve won six of their last eight games overall and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after taking down the streaking Hornets in a 118-114 road win on Saturday. Joel Embiid led the team with 29 points, six rebounds and two blocks, Paul George added 26 points with 13 rebounds and four steals while Tyrese Maxey added 26 points with seven rebounds and eight assists on 10 of 18 shooting. As a team, the 76ers shot 49 percent from the field and 16 of 34 from the 3-point line as they poured in 39 points in the second quarter to cut into an early 15-point deficit and they were able to stay within striking distance until the fourth quarter where they held the Hornets to just 17 points to pull off the comeback win.

Meanwhile, the Miami Heat have been in a real slump as they’ve lost seven of their last eight games overall and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after getting routed by the lowly Pacers in a 135-118 road defeat last night. Tyler Herro led the team with 31 points on 12 of 22 shooting, Jaime Jacquez Jr added 17 points off the bench while Andrew Wiggins and Bam Adebayo each scored 15 points. As a team, the Heat shot 46 percent from the field and 13 of 37 from the 3-point line as they stayed in the contest despite leaking 79 points in the first half, but they really let themselves down in the fourth quarter where the Heat scored just 11 points to allow the Pacers to run away with it in the end.

The 76ers are still missing Johni Broome, while the Heat are still keeping an eye on Norman Powell who is dealing with an illness. The 76ers head into this contest with plenty of winning momentum, they are as healthy as they’ve been all season and they just took down the red-hot Hornets in a solid win on Saturday. In contrast, the Heat have gone cold again and things went from bad to worse in last night’s ugly defeat to the struggling Pacers. The Heat are still capable of pulling off the upset at home, but they are playing their second game of a back to back set, so I definitely prefer a play on the 76ers to take advantage and escape with a narrow win and cover in this one.
