Tristan da Silva led the team with 19 points on seven of seven shooting off the bench, Jalen Suggs added 17 points with seven assists, Paolo Banchero added 16 points with 12 rebounds and six assists while Wendell Carter Jr chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Magic shot 45 percent from the field and 13 of 39 from the 3-point line as they got off to a poor start and had to claw their way back from an early 14-point deficit to lead by 11 points. However, the Magic allowed the Mavericks back into the contest and lost the lead until Jalen Suggs made the assist to Wendell Carter Jr for the game winning dunk with just 1.4 seconds left on the clock.

Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves have been in red-hot form as they’ve won eight of their last nine games overall and they will be eager to build on their current five-game win streak after outlasting the Raptors in a 115-107 home win on Thursday. Anthony Edwards led the team with 22 points on eight of 12 shooting, Rudy Gobert added 18 points with 12 rebounds, five assists and three blocks while Julius Randle chipped in with 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Timberwolves shot 52 percent from the field and 13 of 31 from the 3-point line as they got off to a great start and had to work their way back from a 12-point deficit, before they finally clicked into gear in the third quarter where they poured in 35 points to open up an 18-point lead.

The Magic have ruled out Franz Wagner again with Jonathan Isaac upgraded to a game time decision for this one, while the Timberwolves are keeping an eye on Kyle Anderson who is a game time decision. The Magic are coming into this contest with plenty of momentum, but they were somewhat lucky to escape with a win over the shorthanded Mavericks in their last game and I think they will struggle to score against the Timberwolves elite defense. The Magic could get some reinforcements in this one if Isaac is able to return, but I still prefer a play on the more consistent Timberwolves who are on a roll right now.
