The Orlando Magic and the Detroit Pistons duke it out in a crucial Game 2 at Little Caesars Arena on Wednesday night.

The Orlando Magic came into NBA Playoffs as a real dark horse in the race, but they will be growing in confidence after taking down the Pistons in a 112-101 road win in Game 1 on Sunday. Paolo Banchero led the team with 23 points, nine rebounds and four assists, Franz Wagner added 19 points with five rebounds and four assists while Wendell Carter Jr and Desmond Bane each scored 17 points. As a team, the Magic shot 49 percent from the field and 10 of 34 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 35 points in the first quarter to take a 12-point lead. However, the Magic cooled off and allowed the Pistons to tie the scores in the third quarter before they went on a decisive 14-3 run to reclaim the lead and secure the important road win.

Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons will be going back to the drawing board after coming up well short to the Magic in a tough loss in Game 1 on Sunday. Cade Cunningham led the team with 39 points, five rebounds and four assists while Tobias Harris added 17 points with six rebounds and two blocks but no other player scored more than nine points in this one. As a team, the Pistons shot just 40 percent from the field and 10 of 32 from the 3-point line as they worked hard to recover from a slow start to level the scores in the third quarter, but in hindsight they did well just to keep this competitive throughout most of the game as the Pistons provided next to no support for Cunningham who had a monster game. Daniss Jenkins had a rough game as he shot just one of seven from the field for his six points.

The Magic are still keeping an eye on Jonathan Isaac who is a game time decision, while the Pistons are coming in with the same squad. The Magic were heading into this series with a quiet confidence after finishing the regular season with some momentum but they made a statement in the series opener and would be in the drivers’ seat if they can somehow steal another game here. However, the Pistons know that they are in serious trouble if they don’t square the series up here so I expect better production from the role players who usually step up at home. It is certainly tempting to take the Magic with the points, but this game simply means more to the Pistons and I think we’re going to see them bounce back in this one.
