The Houston Rockets faced off against the Los Angeles Lakers in their first game of the Summer League and it was a dominant victory. The Rockets scored 99 points, including a big second and third quarter on the way to the victory. Reed Sheppard looked really impressive in the first game putting up 23 points, five assists, four reobounds, and three blocks. Cam Whitmore also had a strong game putting up 20 points and 10 rebounds. There has been a lot of buzz around N’Faly Dante but he only finished with two points. There is hope he will have a stronger game here.

The Wizards got out to a slow start against the Atlanta Hawks and at the end of the first quarter they were down 23-14. They continued to fight back though, and they ended up winning 94-88. It was mostly a balanced attack for Washington with all four of the five starters scoring at least 12 points and the other one still finished with eight. Carlton Carrington had a huge game finishing with 19 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists. He proved to be a strong all around player and they are going to need him to have a huge game again here.  If the offense can be balanced, they are going to be in great shape.
