The Atlanta Hawks travel to the Smoothie King Center to take on the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday night.
Atlanta Hawks Betting Preview
The Atlanta Hawks have split their first six games of the season and they will be eager to build some momentum after snapping a three-game skid with a 114-111 home win over the Cavaliers on Thursday. Onyeka Okongwu led the team with 29 points and 12 rebounds, Nickeil Alexander-Walker added 25 points while Aaron Wiggins scored 20 points off the bench while Jalen Johnson tallied 17 points with eight rebounds and seven assists. As a team, the Hawks shot 44 percent from the field and 17 of 43 from the 3-point line as they dominated the second quarter by 30-16 to overcome an early 15-point deficit and they caught fire with 43 points in the third quarter to give them just enough of a cushion to lead the rest of the way. Dyson Daniels struggled again as he shot just two of eight for his four points while CJ McCollum shot just one of eight from the field for his five points and four turnovers.
New Orleans Pelicans Betting Preview
Meanwhile, the New Orleans Pelicans endured a poor start to the season with four losses in a row, but they will be feeling much better after blowing past the lowly Kings in a 132-120 home win on Thursday. Zion Williamson led the team with 22 points with five steals on 10 of 12 shooting, Jeremiah Fears tallied 22 points with eight rebounds, 13 assists and four blocks while Trey Murphy III chipped in with 19 points. As a team, the Pelicans shot a sizzling 59 percent from the field and 10 of 29 from the 3-point line as they caught fire with 39 points in the second quarter to take a narrow lead into halftime and they kept their foot on the gas pedal with another 39 points in the third quarter to push the margin out to 19 points.
Atlanta v New Orleans Free Prediction
The Hawks are still missing Henri Veesaar and Mouhamed Gueye, while the Pelicans have ruled out Jordan Poole and Yves Missi again. The Hawks were able to stop an ugly three-game skid with a timely win over the Cavaliers in their last outing and they will like their chances of making it two in a row as they battle a Pelicans squad who were ice cold before their win over the lowly Kings. The Hawks have shown that they are the more consistent and reliable team to bet on and I think they get the win and cover at this short line against this streaky Pelicans unit.
