Dallas Mavericks vs Utah Jazz Prediction NBA Picks 11/14/24

The Dallas Mavericks have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their last five games overall and they will be hoping to put a halt to a three-game slide after falling just short to the Warriors in a 120-117 road defeat on Tuesday. Luka Doncic led the team with 31 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and three steals, Klay Thompson drained six 3-pointers to finish with 22 points, Kyrie Irving added 21 points with six assists while Daniel Gafford chipped in with 15 points on seven of eight shooting. As a team, the Mavericks shot a healthy 52 percent from the field and 11 of 34 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in full control when they led by seven points late in the fourth quarter. However, the Mavericks got outscored by 15-5 in the final 3:51 as they just had no answer for the Warriors’ Stephen Curry who finished with a flurry to snatch the game from the Mavericks. 

Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz have really struggled to get going this season as they’ve lost eight of their first 10 games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back in this one after getting beaten by the shorthanded Suns in a 120-112 home loss on Tuesday. John Collins led the team with 29 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and three steals, Kyle Filipowski added 18 points, Lauri Markkanen scored 17 points with five assists, while Jordan Clarkson chipped in with 16 points and eight assists. As a team, the Jazz shot 48 percent from the field and 15 of 38 from the 3-point line, but they were always fighting an uphill battle in this one after allowing the Suns to explode for 64 points in the first half. The Jazz trailed in this one by as many as 18 points before they finished with a fourth-quarter flurry to keep the margin within single digits. 

The Mavericks are still shorthanded with Dante Exum and PJ Washington both ruled out, while the Jazz will again be missing Jason Preston and Walker Kessler. The Mavericks haven’t been able to get going yet this season and they are in need of a win after dropping their last three games. The Jazz were absolutely ice-cold to start the season as they were hit hard by injuries, but they have all their key players back on the court which is a big reason why they’ve been able to win two of their last four games. The Mavericks are clearly the more talented team, but they’ve yet to hit their stride, so I just don’t feel comfortable laying this many points on the road. The Jazz have been playing a little better than their record suggests and I think they can at least keep this one close at home.
