The Charlotte Hornets and the San Antonio Spurs duke it out at the Frost Bank Arena on Saturday night.

The Charlotte Hornets have been in red-hot form as they’ve won eight of their last 10 games overall and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after outlasting the lowly Kings in a 117-109 road win on Wednesday. LaMelo Ball led the team with 30 points, six rebounds and five assists, Miles Bridges added 26 points with five assists on 11 of 15 shooting while Kon Knueppel tallied 24 points with seven rebounds and three assists. As a team, the Hornets shot 46 percent from the field and 19 of 40 from the 3-point line as they kept pace with the Kings in a free-flowing first half, before they started to play better defense in the second half to run past the Kings and secure the narrow win despite allowing the Kings’ DeMar DeRozan to go off for 39 points on 17 of 22 shooting. The Hornets got next to nothing from their bench players, but they had four starters score at least 20 points.

Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs have been on fire as they’ve won 16 of their last 18 games overall, but they will be eager to bounce back in this one after having their five-game win streak snapped by the Nuggets in a 136-131 loss on Thursday. Stephon Castle led the team with a triple-double of 30 points with 11 rebounds and 10 assists, De’Aaron Fox added 27 points with nine assists, Harrison Barnes scored 20 points while Devin Vassell chipped in with 18 points. As a team, the Spurs shot 45 percent from the field and 19 of 47 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates with 37 points in the first quarter to open up an early 20-point lead, but they lost their focus and got dominated by 42-25 in the fourth quarter to allow the Nuggets to slip through their fingers. 

Charlotte v San Antonio Free Prediction

The Hornets have ruled out Liam McNeeley and Tidjane Salaun, but they expect to have Coby White back in action, while the Spurs are still keeping an eye on Dylan Harper and Victor Wembenyama who are both listed as questionable. Both teams are coming into this meeting with plenty of winning momentum, but the injury cloud hanging over the Spurs’ Wembenyama makes this pick tricky. The last time these teams met it was the Hornets who won by 111-106 and I think we could see a similar result here with the Hornets pulling off the upset or at least taking it down to the wire. Give me the Hornets with the points against a Spurs team that could be missing their star big man again.
