The Atlanta Hawks and the Charlotte Hornets collide at the Spectrum Center on Wednesday night.
Atlanta Hawks Betting Preview
The Atlanta Hawks have been in decent shape lately as they’ve won six of their last 10 games overall but they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting thrashed by the Timberwolves in a 138-116 road defeat on Monday. CJ McCollum led the team with 38 points on 12 of 25 shooting, Nickeil Alexander-Walker added 23 points with 12 rebounds and five assists while Onyeka Okongwu chipped in with 14 points, five rebounds and three assists. As a team, the Hawks shot 40 percent from the field and 14 of 45 from the 3-point line as they looked completely outmatched at the start of the game and were always fighting an uphill battle after getting smashed by 81-56 in the first half. Zaccharie Risacher had a night to forget as he scored just three points on one of nine shooting from the field.
Charlotte Hornets Betting Preview
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have been on fire as they were riding a nine-game win streak before they got stopped in their tracks by the Pistons in a 110-104 loss on Monday. Brandon Miller led the team with 24 points, LaMelo Ball and Kon Knueppel each scored 20 points while Grant Williams chipped in with 12 points and five assists off the bench. As a team, the Hornets shot 41 percent from the field and 19 of 47 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 33 points in the first quarter to take the early lead but it didn’t even last until halftime. The Hornets then managed just 21 points in the third quarter to fall behind by 16 points which cost them in the end as the Hornets rallied to cut the deficit to just four points with 1:36 left on the clock.
Atlanta v Charlotte Free Prediction
The Hawks are still missing Jonathan Kuminga and they are keeping an eye on Zaccharie Risacher, Jalen Johnson and Dyson Daniels who are all questionable while the Hornets are still missing Coby White and Liam McNeeley. The Hawks were starting to heat up before they dropped their last two games, but now they are running into the streaking Hornets who just had their nine-game win streak snapped by the red-hot Pistons. The Hawks are capable of pulling off the upset on the road, but the Hornets have been playing some great basketball lately and I think they bounce back with a comfortable win and cover in this one.
Peter Tran's Pick: Charlotte -6.5
