The Texas Rangers and the Kansas City Royals will meet on Thursday afternoon in the final game of a three‑game American League series at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.

Texas Rangers Betting Preview

The Texas Rangers enter Thursday’s contest with a 33–34 overall record (2nd in the American League West) and a 16–20 mark on the road. The Rangers offense has been inconsistent this season. Texas has compiled 271 runs scored (26th in MLB), 100 doubles, 67 home runs (20th in MLB) and a .237 team batting average which ranks a rather low 22nd in Major League Baseball.

The Rangers arrive at this afternoon’s game in good form. Texas has won eight of the team’s last eleven games played this season, including a dominant 10–0 shutout victory over the Cleveland Guardians four days ago.

Texas will turn to right hander Kumar Rocker in this contest. In eleven starts made this season, Rocker has compiled a 2–5 win‑loss record, a 3.54 ERA, a 1.33 WHIP and 49 strikeouts, while allowing 55 hits and 26 walks in 50 innings pitched. Rocker pitched rather well in his most recent outing, scattering 6 hits and 1 walk over 5 innings pitched in the Texas Rangers 3-2 win over the Cleveland Guardians five days ago.

Shifting our focus to the Texas offense, the Rangers lineup features third baseman Josh Jung and outfielder Brandon Nimmo. Josh Jung enters this matchup with a rather impressive .314 batting average (7th in MLB), 8 home runs, 16 doubles, 30 RBIs and an .850 OPS. Brandon Nimmo has amassed a .255 batting average, 7 home runs, 11 doubles, 24 walks, 22 RBIs and a .731 OPS.

Kansas City Royals Betting Preview

The Kansas City Royals enter Thursday’s matchup with a 28–40 overall record (5th in the American League Central) and a 16–18 mark at home. Kansas City has played competitive baseball recently, winning five of the team’s last seven games played this season, including a thrilling 3–2 victory over the Minnesota Twins last week.

Kansas City will start right hander Michael Wacha in today’s game. In thirteen starts made this season, Wacha has compiled a 4–4 record, a 3.44 ERA, a 1.14 WHIP and 67 strikeouts, while allowing 33 hits and 26 walks in 81 innings pitched. Wacha will look to rebound from his recent poor performances on the mound in this afternoon’s matchup with the Texas Rangers.

The Royals lineup features shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. and third baseman Maikel Garcia. Bobby Witt Jr. has tallied a .279 batting average, 9 home runs, 31 walks, 27 RBIs, 24 stolen bases and an .803 OPS. Maikel Garcia has compiled a .261 batting average, 3 home runs, 15 doubles, 24 RBIs, 4 stolen bases and a .701 OPS.

Why the Texas Rangers will win.

• Offensive upside. Josh Jung and Brandon Nimmo continue to anchor the Texas Rangers lineup.

• Quality starting pitching. Kumar Rocker has compiled a 3.54 ERA, a 1.33 WHIP and 49 strikeouts 50 innings pitched.

• Current form. The Rangers have won eight of the team’s last eleven games.

Why the Kansas City Royals will win.

• Recent form. The Kansas City Royals have won five of the team’s last seven games.

• Offensive balance. Bobby Witt Jr. and Maikel Garcia lead the Kansas City Royals lineup.

Texas Rangers vs. Kansas City Royals Prediction

In my view, this matchup favors the Texas Rangers. Why? Texas starting pitcher Kumar Rocker has pitched at a high level this season, compiling a robust 3.54 ERA, a 1.33 WHIP and 40 strikeouts in 50 innings pitched. Conversely, Kansas City hurler Michael Wacha has struggled in his last two outings which is a concern when facing a Texas Rangers team that has won eight of the team’s last eleven games. With that said, the Rangers are the side to be on in this one. I am backing the Texas Rangers on the moneyline in this game.
