The Seattle Mariners and the Tampa Bay Rays will meet on Sunday afternoon in the final game of a three‑game American League series at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Seattle Mariners Betting Preview

The Seattle Mariners enter Sunday’s contest with a 47–49 overall record (2nd in the American League West) and a 20–29 mark on the road. The Mariners offense has been inconsistent to this point in the season. Seattle has compiled 384 runs scored (27th in MLB), 118 doubles, 113 home runs and a .243 team batting average which ranks 28th in the Major League Baseball.

The Mariners arrive at tomorrow’s game in below average form. More specifically, Seattle has lost six of the team’s last eight games played this season, including a 2–0 shutout loss to the Miami Marlins earlier this week.

Seattle will turn to right hander Emerson Hancock in this contest. In seventeen starts made this season, Hancock has compiled a 6–4 win‑loss record, a 3.23 ERA, a 1.01 WHIP and 92 strikeouts, while allowing 75 hits and 24 walks in 97.2 innings pitched. Hancock has pitched at a high level recently, allowing one or fewer earned runs in two consecutive starts made in 2026. Hancock will look to build on his recent strong performances on the mound in tomorrow’s matchup with the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Seattle Mariners lineup features outfielder Randy Arozarena and first baseman Josh Naylor. Randy Arozarena has amassed a .287 batting average, 10 home runs, 37 walks, 42 RBIs and a .835 OPS. Josh Naylor has compiled a .251 batting average, 8 home runs, 12 doubles, 27 walks, 36 RBIs and a .668 OPS.

Tampa Bay Rays Betting Preview

The Tampa Bay Rays enter Sunday afternoon’s matchup with a 56–37 overall record (1st in the American League East) and a robust 35–14 mark at home. Tampa Bay has played quality baseball recently, winning four of the team’s last five games, including a 6–4 victory over the New York Yankees four days ago.

Tampa Bay will start left hander Ian Seymour in tomorrow’s game. In five starts made this season, Seymour has compiled a 6–1 record, a 4.11 ERA, a 1.08 WHIP and 72 strikeouts, while allowing 45 hits and 21 walks in 61.1 innings pitched. Seymour arrives at this contest in good form, allowing one or fewer earned runs in two of his last three starts made in 2026.

The Tampa Bay Rays have compiled a formidable lineup this season featuring first baseman Yandy Diaz and third baseman Junior Caminero. Yandy Diaz enters this contest with a .320 batting average (3rd in MLB), 13 home runs, 55 RBIs and an .887 OPS. Junior Caminero has tallied a .281 batting average, 28 home runs, 59 RBIs and a .933 OPS.

Why the Seattle Mariners will win.

• Starting pitching. Emerson Hancock has compiled a 3.23 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP across seventeen starts made this season.

• Offensive consistency. Julio Rodríguez and Randy Arozarena continue to anchor the Mariners lineup.

• Motivation. The Seattle Mariners have lost six of the team’s last eight games.

Why the Tampa Bay Rays will win.

• Home field edge. Tampa Bay have played outstanding baseball (35-14 home win-loss record) at Tropicana Field this season.

• Starting pitching. In five starts made this season, Ian Seymour has compiled a 6–1 record, a 4.11 ERA, a 1.08 WHIP and 72 strikeouts in 61.1 innings pitched.

Seattle Mariners vs. Tampa Bay Rays Prediction

In my view, the way to go in this contest is the total rather than a side. Why? Tampa Bay starting pitcher Ian Seymour arrives at this contest in good form, allowing one or fewer earned runs in two of his last three starts made this season. Similarly, Seattle hurler Emerson Hancock has pitched at a high level recently, allowing one or fewer earned runs in two consecutive starts made in 2026. I see a game where both starting pitchers limit offensive production. With that said, I am backing under 8.5 runs in this game.

Hans Geevers's Pick: Under 8.5
