Giants are Still Struggling with Pitching

The San Francisco Giants are 36-39 this year and they have lost four of their last six games. San Francisco is coming off of a series loss against the Cubs, where they lost two out of three games. Prior to that series, the Giants lost two out of three against the Angels, won two out of three against the Astros, and won two out of three against the Rangers. Jorge Soler is batting .224 with nine home runs and 26 RBI’s for the Giants this season. San Francisco has allowed at least five runs in five of their last six games.

Cardinals Looking to Bounce Back

The St. Louis Cardinals are 36-37 this season and they have lost three of their last five games. St. Louis is coming off of a series loss against the Marlins, where they lost two out of three games. Prior to that series, the Cardinals won two out of three against the Cubs, won two out of three against the Pirates, and split four games with the Rockies. St. Louis is 5-3 in their last eight games and they are second on the NL Central standings.

The projected starting pitcher for San Francisco is Keaton Winn, who is 3-7 with a 6.66 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP over 52.2 innings pitched this season. Winn has allowed at least five earned runs in four of his last five starts and has only gone more than 4.1 innings once in that span. Eight of the Cardinals’ last 10 games against National League opponents have gone UNDER the total runs line.Four of the Giants’ last five games against National League opponents have gone OVER the total runs line. The ‘Inning 1 UNDER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Giants’ last five night games against National League opponents.

San Francisco Giants vs St. Louis Cardinals Prediction

Both of these teams come into this series after dropping two out of three games earlier in the week, but they will try and bounce back here. St. Louis is second in the NL Central and they have played very well over the last few weeks. The Cardinals should have a solid day at the plate here, as Keaton Winn is starting for the Giants, who has been awful this season. San Francisco has a similar record to St. Louis, but they are fourth in the NL West. St. Louis is starting Pallante, who has been decent as a starter, but doesn’t last very deep into games. I absolutely cannot back Winn with how he is pitching, so my San Francisco Giants vs St. Louis Cardinals prediction is for the Cardinals to win.
