The Line: Betting Odds: Chicago Cubs -116 / Pittsburgh Pirates -105 — Over/Under: 7
Cade Horton Over 4.5 Strikeouts
Chicago Cubs vs Pittsburgh Pirates 2:20 PM EST
Cade Horton has shown flashes of promise during his rookie 2025 MLB season with the Chicago Cubs. Across six appearances (five starts), he’s compiled a 3–1 record with a 4.11 ERA over 30.2 innings, along with 25 strikeouts and a 1.30 WHIP. In his recent start on June 8th against Detroit, Horton gave up four runs over five innings, taking his first MLB loss despite six strikeouts and no walks. Even though the Cubs lost that game, I thought Horton displayed some great strikeout stuff. He should be able to carry that momentum into this one, facing a Pirates team that has been pitiful on the road this season. Pittsburgh has a batting average of .214 on the road and has been struck out at the 6th highest rate in the MLB.

Mitchell Parker Under 2.5 Earned Runs
Washington Nationals vs Miami Marlins 6:45 PM EST
Mitchell Parker has endured a challenging yet occasionally bright 2025 season as a starting pitcher for the Washington Nationals. Over 13 starts and 71 innings, he carries a 4–6 record with a 4.44 ERA, 47 strikeouts (7.73 K/9), and a 1.25 WHIP. Over his last seven starts, his ERA ballooned to 6.42 with a 1.40 WHIP, but he did bounce back in a big way, only allowing 1 earned run in his last start against the Rangers. The Marlins are in a bad stretch at the moment, only winning 2 of their last 10 games. Mitchell Parker is better than his ERA, and I expect him to get better as the season goes on. This is a perfect opportunity to string together multiple good outings.Â
Stephen Kolek Under 3.5 Strikeouts
San Diego Padres vs Arizona D-Backs 9:40 PM ESTÂ
Stephen Kolek has made a strong impression in his first full season as a starting pitcher for the San Diego Padres in 2025. Over seven starts and 42 innings, he’s posted a solid 3–1 record with a 3.00 ERA, 29 strikeouts, and a 1.24 WHIP. I’ve been impressed with Kolek, but he doesn’t get many outs from strikeouts. He’s logged fewer than 4 strikeouts in his last 3 games. Now he has to face a dangerous Diamondbacks lineup in Chase Field, which has historically been a hitter-friendly ballpark.
