The Line: Betting Odds: New York Yankees -185 / Cleveland Guardians +154 — Over/Under: 8
Leody Taveras Under 0.5 Hits
Leody Taveras has experienced a season of transition and adjustment. After beginning the year with the Texas Rangers, he was claimed off waivers by the Seattle Mariners in early May. Across both teams, Taveras has appeared in 52 games, posting a .221 batting average with 3 home runs, 16 RBIs, and 9 stolen bases. He looked terrible in the Mariners’ last series against the Twins, failing to record a hit in every game of that series. This is a very tough ballpark to hit in, and when a player is cold, I like to continue to fade them when in Seattle. Also, Sugano is on the mound for Baltimore, who has been the Orioles’ most reliable starter.

Josh Smith Under 1.5 Bases
Through 51 games, Smith has maintained a solid .269 batting average, accumulating 46 hits in 171 at-bats. His offensive contributions include 5 home runs, 16 RBIs, and 20 runs scored, complemented by 7 stolen bases, with an on-base percentage of .340 and a slugging percentage of .409. Smith has been solid this season, but he’s failed to log over 1 base in 5 of his last 7 games. He now has to go into Tampa Bay and face Rasmussen, TB’s ace. I don’t like this spot for Smith to have a big game.
Carlos Correa Over 1.5 Bases
Carlos Correa has been a steady presence in the Minnesota Twins’ lineup, demonstrating resilience and adaptability throughout the season. Over 50 games, Correa has posted a .247 batting average, with 5 home runs and 18 RBIs, contributing to an OPS of .677. Since returning back from injury, Correa has shown signs of offensive resurgence. In his last 20 games, he has achieved a .296 batting average, with 4 home runs and 10 RBIs, signaling a positive trajectory in his performance. This Athletics pitching staff has completely fallen apart, and I expect a guy like Correa to exploit that.Â
Jarren Duren Over 1.5 Bases
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran has been a consistent contributor to the team’s offense. Over 60 games, he has posted a .264 batting average. Duran has also scored 31 runs and stolen 13 bases. His on-base percentage stands at .312, with a slugging percentage of .406, culminating in an OPS of .718. Duren struggled mightily over this weekend in Boston’s series against the Braves, but I like him to bounce back in this one. The Angels have one of the worst bullpens in the league, and with this game being played at Fenway, it sets up perfectly for a big game from Duren.Â
