The Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Angels will meet on Saturday night in the opening game of a three‑game American League series at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California.

Boston Red Sox Betting Preview

The Boston Red Sox enter Saturday’s contest with a 38–48 overall record (5th in the American League East) and a 21–21 mark on the road. The Red Sox offense has been competitive to this point in the season. Through 86 games played in 2026, Boston has compiled 337 runs scored (30th in MLB), 149 doubles, a.243 team batting average and 73 home runs which ranks an abysmal 30th in Major League Baseball.

The Red Sox arrive at tonight’s game in good form. Boston has won six of the team’s last eight games played this season, including a 6–3 victory over the Washington Nationals last month.

Boston will turn to right hander Sonny Gray in this contest. In fifteen starts made this season, Gray has compiled a rather impressive 9–1 win‑loss record (5th in MLB), a 2.69 ERA, a 1.11 WHIP and 71 strikeouts, while allowing 72 hits and 21 walks in 83.2 innings pitched. Sonny Gray arrives at this game in good form, allowing one or fewer runs in three of his last four starts made in 2026. Gray will look to build on his recent strong performances on the mound in this evening’s matchup with the Los Angeles Angels.

The Boston Red Sox lineup features outfielder Wilyer Abreu and first baseman Willson Contreras. Abreu enters this contest with a .266 batting average, 10 home runs, 17 doubles, 39 RBIs and a .763 OPS. Wilson Contreras has compiled a .286 batting average, 18 home runs, 13 doubles, 32 walks, and 53 RBIs.

Los Angeles Angels Betting Preview

The Los Angeles Angels enter Saturday night’s matchup with a 36–53 overall record (5th in the American League West) and a 21–23 mark at home. Los Angeles has played below average baseball recently, losing five of the team’s last seven games played this season, including a 1–0 shutout loss to the Seattle Mariners two days ago.

Los Angeles will start left hander Sam Aldegheri in tomorrow’s game. In five starts made this season, Aldegheri has compiled a 3–3 record, a 4.85 ERA, a 1.45 WHIP and 20 strikeouts, while allowing 30 hits and 13 walks in 29.2 innings pitched.

The Los Angeles Angels lineup features Jo Adell and Mike Trout. Jo Adell enters this matchup with a .241 batting average, 11 home runs, 15 doubles, 10 walks, 45 RBIs and a .670 OPS. Outfielder Mike Trout has amassed 17 home runs (25th in MLB), 12 doubles, 66 walks, 36 RBIs and an .866 OPS.

Why the Boston Red Sox will win.

• Starting pitching. In fifteen starts made this season, Sonny Gray has compiled a 9–1 win‑loss record (5th in MLB), a 2.69 ERA, a 1.11 WHIP and 71 strikeouts in 83.2 innings pitched.

• Current form. The Boston Red Sox have won six of the team’s last eight games.

Why the Los Angeles Angels will win.

• Home field edge. The Angels have played competitive baseball at Angel Stadium this season.

• Motivation factor. The Los Angeles Angels have lost five of the team’s last seven games.

Boston Red Sox vs. Los Angeles Angels Prediction

In my opinion, this matchup favors the Boston Red Sox. Why? Boston starting pitcher Sonny Gray arrives at this contest pitching at a high level, compiling a 9-1 win-loss record and a 2.69 ERA in 83.2 innings pitched this season, while Los Angeles hurler Sam Aldegheri has been far more inconsistent, allowing five or more earned runs in two of his last three outings. For the reasons just noted, I am backing the Boston Red sox on the moneyline in this game.
