Cincinnati Reds Betting Preview
Cincinnati lost its first three series this year, falling to the San Francisco Giants, the Texas Rangers, and the Milwaukee Brewers. Series wins over the San Francisco Giants and Pittsburgh Pirates came next, though, then a set victory over Baltimore in between losses to the Mariners and Marlins. Cincinnati would sweep the Rockies and tie the Cardinals in their next pair before losing a series versus the Nationals over the weekend. After a 4-0 loss to Atlanta on Monday, in game two, the Reds held a late 1-0 lead in the bottom of the ninth but ended up falling 2-1 in a tough outcome.
In Wednesday’s game, Cincinnati nearly blew a 4-0 lead but ended up hanging on for the victory, 4-3 in the end. TJ Friedl had two solo homers to aid the cause. Starter Hunter Greene lasted 3.0 clean frames with two hits, no walks, and six Ks.
As a starter for the finale on Thursday, it’ll be Nick Lodolo. This year, Lodolo is 3-3 with a 3.27 ERA in seven starts over 41.1 innings. Lodolo is 18-17 with a 4.34 ERA in 54 starts over his MLB career.
Atlanta Braves Betting Preview
Over on the Braves’ side, they were swept by the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers to start out the year, then split with the Miami Marlins. Atlanta finally got a series win over the Philadelphia Phillies, then lost to the Rays and Blue Jays. The Braves would hit a run from there, sweeping Minnesota, then beating the Cardinals, Diamondbacks, and Rockies in series. Atlanta lost two of three to the Dodgers over the weekend ahead of their shutout win on Monday, though. In game two, the Braves got a nice effort from Chris Sale on 6.2 clean frames, five hits, two walks, and 10 Ks in the starting role.
In Wednesday’s matchup, Atlanta produced a valiant comeback effort but fell just short on six team hits. Drake Baldwin logged a solo homer among his two hits, and Grant Holmes managed 5.1 innings with four earned on seven hits and a walk as a starter.
Spencer Schwellenbach will take the mound for the Braves on Thursday. This year, Schwellenbach is 1-3 with a 3.92 ERA in seven starts over 41.1 innings. Schwellenbach is 9-10 with a 3.49 career ERA in 28 starts.

Reds vs Braves Prediction
I’m going to stay with the Braves here. This one’s going to depend on what the starters can do, though. Lodolo is coming off a rough loss versus Washington on May 3 with six earned runs on 10 hits and two walks in 5.1 innings. Lodolo went 1-1 in his previous two outings, though, posting a combined three earned runs in 12.2 innings total. As for Schwellenbach, he lost to the Dodgers with 3.2 innings and six earned runs his last time up. In his two prior outings, Schwellenbach had five earned in 13.0 innings on 15 hits and one walk combined.
Atlanta couldn’t find much offense in the Wednesday game despite a couple of pretty solid innings. The Braves should still have the advantage in Thursday’s matchup, but the line’s probably too thick to mess with.
