Arizona Diamondbacks Betting Preview
Arizona split four games versus the Chicago Cubs in their first series of this season, then took two of three matchups versus the New York Yankees in the next series. Arizona then fell in two of three against the Washington Nationals before taking two victories in a three-game series against the Orioles. After a 7-0 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday, the Diamondbacks managed a wild 5-4 win in Saturday’s matchup. The Sunday victory 5-2 was a late comeback effort for Arizona as well. In Tuesday’s game versus Miami, the Diamondbacks posted four runs in the second inning and five more in the sixth along the way to 11 team hits in a 10-4 victory. Starter Merrill Kelly finished with 6.0 innings, one earned run, three hits, one walk and nine Ks.
On Wednesday Arizona posted nine team hits on the way to a 6-2 victory. Brandon Pfaadt logged 5.2 innings in the start with one earned on five hits and two walks.
In the starting pitcher role Thursday the Diamondbacks will send out Eduardo Rodriguez. Over his first three games so far this year Rodriguez is 0-2 with a 4.86 ERA in 16.2 innings total. Rodriguez is 85-59 with a 4.09 ERA in 215 career games (209 starts).
Miami Marlins Betting Preview
Over on the Marlins’ side, they took victories in three of four games versus the Pittsburgh Pirates in their first series this season. Miami went on to a series loss versus the New York Mets, then split two games versus the Braves. The Marlins lost the series during their rematch with the Mets last week, then managed wins in two of three games over the weekend versus the Washington Nationals. On Tuesday the Marlins couldn’t dig out of the 10-1 hole by the end of the sixth inning. Starter Connor Gillispie had 5.0 innings with eight earned runs.
In the Wednesday game three the Marlins had a 1-1 tie after the fourth but couldn’t get much going after that. Max Meyer managed 6.0 innings with three earned on five hits and two walks as starting pitcher.
It’ll be Edward Cabrera in the starting pitcher role Thursday for Miami. This season Cabrera has just one start in the bag, a no-decision with 5.2 innings and two earned. Cabrera is 17-22 with a 4.29 ERA in 64 career games (62 starts).

Diamondbacks vs Marlins Prediction
I’ll take a stab on the Marlins here. Probably not touching it, though. Cabrera has just the one start in the bag so far this year, but he did fairly well in that one. It was 5.2 innings with two earned on four hits and three walks versus the Nationals on April 11. As for Rodriguez, his first two starts were a combined 10.1 innings with seven earned runs. Rodriguez is coming off a better effort versus Milwaukee though, notching 6.1 innings and two earned in a tough-luck loss on April 11.
Miami had a pretty flat offensive outing Wednesday, with Xavier Edwards and Jesus Sanchez accounting for four of the team’s seven hits. The pitching staff had their issues as well. The Marlins need a good turnaround Thursday but I think they’ve got it in them.
