Blue Jays Blew It
The Blue Jays were up 3-0 on Saturday and it looked like they might be on the way to another victory. Bowden Francis was on the mound and cruising into the 6th inning, when suddenly he went cold, and the Orioles bats heated up. Francis ended up going 5.2 innings giving up four hits and five earned runs. He had five strikeouts and two walks. Anthony Santander hit a home run. Shortstop Bo Bichette also had a strong game, finishing with three hits and one walk.
The Blue Jays are averaging 3.73 runs, while their pitching is giving up 3.6 runs per game. The offense is ranked 22nd overall, and with the offense being inconsistent, a lot of the times they have had to lean on the offense. Jose Berrios is getting the start, and he sits with a 1-1 record and an ERA of 4.58. He struggled in his first start of the season, but the last two starts he has been a lot better. Against the Boston Red Sox in his last start, he went seven innings, giving up four hits and one run.
Why the Blue Jays Will Beat the Orioles
- The Orioles have lost six of their last seven games as favorites following a win.
- The Blue Jays have won three of their last four games as underdogs after playing the previous day.
- The Blue Jays have covered the run line in each of their last nine games as underdogs after playing the previous day.
- The Orioles have failed to cover the run line in eight of their last nine games as favorites.
- The Blue Jays have led after 3 innings in each of their last three games against the Orioles.
- The Orioles have trailed after 5 innings in five of their last six games against American League opponents.
Can Orioles Go on a Run
The Orioles are going to look to go on a run after a very inconsistent start to the season. They still sit under .500 and outside the one strong inning, the offense wasn’t all that gerat. They were actually outshot 10-5, but still won by a run. Heston Kjerstad had a strong game hitting a home run and driving in two RBIs. Tomoyuki Sugano got the start and he went 4.2 innings giving up eight hits and three runs.
The Orioles are averaging 4.28 runs while their pitching is giving up 4.64 runs per game. Overall the offense has been pretty middle of the road, the pitching has really let them down in a big way. Cedric Mullens has had a strong start and has hit three home runs and driven in 16 RBIs. Getting the start for the Orioles will be Cade Povich who sits with an 0-1 record and an ERA of 3.48. In his last start against the Kansas City Royals, he didn’t do too well and went six innings, giving up 12 hits and one earned run. He played with fire all game but three of the four games ended up being unearned.
Toronto Blue Jays vs Baltimore Oriples Prediction
The Blue Jays are going to find success in this game. Povich might have given up only one earned run in his last start but he really had some major issues, and it’s not going to get any easier in this game. Berrios on the other side has been really good his last couple of starts and he’s going to find the success again here. The Orioles offense has been good, butt they are going to really struggle against a left hander. Back the Blue Jays on the money line to come out on top.
