The Athletics and Seattle Mariners meet on Thursday in MLB action at the T-Mobile Park. Here’s an Athletics vs Seattle Mariners Prediction. This article will include an Athletics vs Seattle Mariners Pick.
Athletics Betting Preview
The Athletics are no longer in Oakland and haven’t made the postseason since 2020. The good news is the Athletics are spending money and are heading in the right direction. Luis Severino got a bag this offseason, and the additions of Luis Urias and Jose Leclerc are nice. Gio Urshela is a nice middle-of-the-order piece, and Jeffrey Springs has shown flashes throughout his career on the mound. When you pair that with Brent Rooker and JJ Bleday, the Athletics have been in far worse shape. I’m not saying the Athletics are going to be a contender this season, but this won’t be your 100-loss A’s you’re used to seeing. The A's will meet the Cubs after this series.
Luis Severino gets the ball for the Athletics, and he was 11-7 with a 3.91 ERA and 161 strikeouts last season. Severino is 2-2 with a 4.24 ERA and 21 strikeouts in his career against the Mariners.
Seattle Mariners Betting Preview
The Seattle Mariners won 85 games last season and have played the playoffs just once since the 2002 season. There are no excuses this season, as Julio Rodriguez, Cal Raleigh, and Randy Arozarena create one of the better heart of the orders in baseball. The Mariners led MLB in ERA and WHIP last season, and we should see similar numbers with Logan Gilbert, Luis Castillo, and Bryce Miller returning. It’s shocking that the Mariners didn’t make the postseason last year with their pitching dominance. They have to right a wrong this season. It’s playoffs or bust for the Mariners in 2025. The Mariners will face the Tigers following this series.
Logan Gilbert gets the ball for the Mariners, and he was 9-12 with a 3.23 ERA and 220 strikeouts last season. Gilbert is 3-1 with a 3.09 ERA and 62 strikeouts in his career against the Athletics.
Why the Seattle Mariners will win
- The Athletics have lost each of their last seven road openers against American League opponents.
- The Mariners have won each of their last eight Thursday games against the Athletics.
- The Mariners have covered the run line in six of their last seven night games against American League opponents.
- The Athletics have failed to cover the run line in four of their last five road openers.
- The Mariners have led after 5 innings in each of their last five games against the Athletics.
- The Mariners have led after 3 innings in three of their last four night games.
Why the Athletics will win
- The Athletics have won three of their last four season openers as underdogs against American League opponents.
- The Mariners have lost three of their last four Thursday night games as home favorites against American League opponents.
- The Mariners have failed to cover the run line in each of their last seven Thursday games as home favorites against American League opponents.
- The Athletics have covered the run line in four of their last five season openers as underdogs against American League opponents.
Athletics vs Seattle Mariners Prediction
The A’s have one of the better rosters in recent memory, and Luis Severino got the contract this season, so there’s motivation to show up here and make an early statement. However, Gilbert is one of the better young pitchers in baseball, and the Mariners can’t afford to get off to a rocky start. After somehow missing the playoffs a year ago, you’d think the Mariners want to pad wins early and really set the tone. This is a nice spot to do just that, as it’s a night game at home, with one of their aces on the bump. I’ll lay the price with the Mariners on opening day.
