Atlanta Braves Betting Preview

Over the weekend the Braves played a long set versus the Los Angeles Dodgers. Atlanta won the first two installments of that set, then fell 9-2 and 9-0 in the next pair. In the Tuesday game versus the Reds, the Braves blew an early 5-1 lead in a 6-5 defeat. Grant Holmes gave up two earned in 4.0 innings as a starter. The starter for Wednesday will be Spencer Schwellenbach. So far Schwellenbach is 6-7 with a 3.73 ERA in the first 18 games of his career.

Cincinnati Reds Betting Preview

Over on the Reds’ side, they won their first two weekend games versus the Minnesota Twins 8-4 and 11-1. Sunday’s finale was a 9-2 loss, though. On Tuesday the Reds were out-hit 12-10 in the comeback victory. Brandon Williamson left after 1.1 innings and three earned.

Jakob Junis will start for the Reds on Wednesday. This year Junis is 4-0 with a 2.73 ERA in 22 games (four starts). Junis has a 42-45 career record with a 4.50 ERA in 190 games (114 starts).

Why the Cincinnati Reds will win

  • The Braves have lost eight of their last nine games as favorites against NL Central opponents.
  • The underdogs have won each of the Reds' last five games at Great American Ball Park.
  • The Reds have covered the run line in each of their last 11 games against the Braves.
  • The Braves have failed to cover the run line in each of their last six games against NL Central opponents that held a losing record.

Why the Atlanta Braves will win

  • The Reds have lost 15 of their last 16 games as home underdogs against NL East opponents following a home win.
  • The Braves have won each of their last four night games against NL Central opponents following a road loss.
  • The Braves have covered the run line in each of their last five games following a road loss.
  • The Reds have failed to cover the run line in each of their last three games as home underdogs against NL East opponents following a win.

Total Runs Facts

  • Each of the Reds' last four games as underdogs has gone OVER the total runs line.
  • Each of the Braves' last four games against National League opponents has gone OVER the total runs line.

Atlanta Braves vs Cincinnati Reds Prediction

I’ll stick with the Reds. Junis has been doing a pretty good job lately. In his last three starts combined, Junis has 13.2 innings and just two earned runs—without a decision. As for Schwellenbach, he’s got seven earned over his last 16.2 innings combined in three starts (a 1-1 run).

On Tuesday the Reds used a ton of bullpen arms after Williamson in order to help muscle out the comeback victory. Cincinnati had seven different pitchers on the night, so it’ll be important for Junis to eat some innings on Wednesday.

Andrew’s Pick Cincinnati Reds +121
