The Chicago White Sox and the Oakland A’s meet Wednesday in MLB action from the Oakland Coliseum. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Chicago White Sox vs Oakland Athletics Prediction.
Starting Pitching Matchup
The Chicago White Sox will start Davis Martin here and Martin is 0-1 with a 7.11 ERA and 8 strikeouts this season. This will be Martin’s first career start against Oakland. Joey Estes will start for the A’s here and is 5-4 with a 4.77 ERA and 59 strikeouts this season. This will be Estes’ first career start against the White Sox.
Chicago White Sox Recap
The Chicago White Sox come into this one looking to build some momentum after finally snapping their 21-game losing streak with a 5-1 win in Tuesday’s matchup. The win gave the White Sox a chance at their first series win since the end of June after series losses to the Twins, Royals twice, Mariners, Rangers and Pirates over the course of the losing streak.
White Sox Playing Out The String
Entering Tuesday, Gavin Sheets has a .214 batting average and a .298 OBP along with 19 doubles and 31 RBIs while Andrew Vaughn has 13 homers and 50 RBIs and Andrew Benintendi has 9 home runs and 33 RBIs with Vaughn logging 22 doubles as well as a team-high 92 hits.
Why the Chicago White Sox will win
- The Athletics have lost each of their last six day games against AL Central opponents.
- The underdogs have won seven of the last 10 games between the White Sox and Athletics.
- The underdogs have covered the run line in five of the White Sox's last six games at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum.
- The Athletics have failed to cover the run line in five of their last six day games against AL Central opponents.
Oakland A’s Recap
The Oakland A’s will look to bounce back after a frustrating showing in Tuesday’s loss to even the series up at one win apiece. The loss put the A’s at risk of another series loss after falling flat against the Dodgers this past weekend.
A’s Trying To Get Out Of AL West Cellar
Going into Tuesday’s matchup, Brent Rooker leads the A’s with 81 RBIs along with 28 home runs this season while Abraham Toro has 79 hits and 26 RBIs. JJ Bleday has a team-high 31 doubles, 4 triples, 96 hits and 38 RBIs and Toro has a .252 batting average. Rooker also has 123 K’s at the dish this season, while Zack Gelof has the unfortunate title of leading strikeout bat with 125 strikeouts this season. Shea Langeliers has also chipped in 21 home runs and 57 RBIs.
Why the Oakland Athletics will win
- The White Sox have lost each of their last 11 day games after playing the previous day.
- The favorites have won 19 of the White Sox's last 20 games.
- The Athletics have covered the run line in each of their last nine games following a loss.
- The White Sox have failed to cover the run line in each of their last eight road games following a win.
Chicago White Sox vs Oakland Athletics Prediction
I’m on the A’s. I don’t love it here and I certainly don’t love Joey Estes at this price, but he’s pitched far better at home in a pitcher-friendly ballpark, and Davis Martin hasn’t looked good in his 6.1 innings of work. I’m not jumping on the White Sox after one win even with the plus money here. Not one I’m rushing to bet, but I’ll back Oakland in this one.
