CJ Phillip led the rush on just 26 yards from eight carries in the defeat.
South Alabama Jaguars Betting Preview
Over on the South Alabama side, they have four games in the bag as well this year. In the opener versus Southeastern LA, the Jaguars rolled to a 39-14 victory. Game two was a close 28-24 loss versus Tulane in a road matchup, but South Alabama was able to get back into the win column 41-36 versus Ohio the next weekend. That brought their record to 2-1 overall.
Matched up against Kentucky last weekend, the Jags were quite competitive in the first half. South Alabama went into the locker room trailing 24-21 after three second-quarter touchdowns. The Jaguars were outscored 21-0 from there though, and lost 45-21. QB Jared Hollins was 23-of-43 for 266 yards, two touchdowns and two picks in the losing effort.

I’ll go with South Alabama but I’m probably avoiding this one. The Jaguars didn’t play too badly in the first half of their loss to Kentucky but faded from there. South Alabama ended up with 354 yards, 19 first downs, 4-of-15 on third downs and two picks. the defense gave up just 177 pass yards but also 390 rush yards, 8.3 yards per play and 26 first downs.
As for LA-Monroe, they gave up 577 yards, 245 rush yards, 28 first downs and 11-of-20 on third downs in their loss to FAU. The Warhawks posted just 13 first downs and 4-of-13 on third-down conversion attempts offensively. LA-Monroe should match up better here but I don’t think they’ll cover.
