The Minnesota Golden Gophers and the Purdue Boilermakers will meet Saturday night in a Big Ten Conference matchup at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Indiana. Let’s take a look at this matchup from a betting perspective.

Minnesota Golden Gophers Betting Preview

The Minnesota Golden Gophers enter Saturday night’s matchup with a 4-1 overall win-loss record (3-1 home record, 1-0 mark on the road), including victories over Eastern Illinois, Akron, Washington and the Michigan Wolverines.

The Minnesota offense has been productive through five games played in 2026. The Golden Gophers are averaging 32 points per game while producing 354.6 total yards per contest. Minnesota has accumulated 234.2 passing yards and 120.4 rushing yards per game.

Shifting our focus to the defensive side of the football, Minnesota has allowed 18 points per game while surrendering 253.8 total yards per contest. Examining the data just presented more closely, the Golden Gophers have been one of the better defensive teams in the Big Ten, allowing only 159.8 passing yards and 94.0 rushing yards per game.

Through five games played in 2026, quarterback Drake Lindsey has compiled 1,087 passing yards and eight passing touchdowns. Running back TJ Thomas Jr. has amassed 307 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. Senior wide receiver Noah Jennings has been a major contributor in the receiving department, accumulating 26 receptions, 345 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.

Purdue Boilermakers Betting Preview

The Purdue Boilermakers enter Saturday night’s contest with a 2-3 record (1-2 home record, 1-1 mark on the road) after posting victories over Indiana State and Illinois while losing games to Wake Forest, Notre Dame and the UCLA Bruins.

The Purdue offense has been average in 2026. Let’s dive into the Purdue Boilermakers relevant team data to better shed light on my previous statement. The Boilermakers are averaging 30.4 points per game while generating 405.8 total yards per contest, including 306.6 passing yards and 99.2 rushing yards per game.

Defensively, Purdue has allowed 35.0 points per game through five contests this season. The Boilermakers have certainly struggled defensively in 2026, surrendering 425.8 total yards per contest, including 183.6 rushing yards per game.

Quarterback Ryan Browne has compiled 1,390 passing yards, eight passing touchdowns and one interception. Sophomore running back Fame Ijeboi has amassed 354 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns, while wide receiver Asaad Waseem has tallied 27 receptions, 453 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.

Why the Minnesota Golden Gophers will win.

• Defensive stability. The Minnesota Golden Gophers are allowing only 18 points per game this season.

• Ability to win on the road. Minnesota defeated Washington 27-24 in the team’s most recent road game last month.

• Offensive talent. Drake Lindsey has compiled 1,087 passing yards while Noah Jennings has added 345 receiving yards.

• Recent form. The Golden Gophers have won three consecutive games, including a 20-14 victory over Michigan last week.

Why the Purdue Boilermakers will win.

• Home field advantage. The Purdue Boilermakers will play this game at Ross-Ade Stadium.

• Quarterback play. Ryan Browne has compiled 1,390 passing yards, eight passing touchdowns and only one interception this season.

• Receiving talent. Asaad Waseem has accumulated 453 receiving yards through five games played in 2026.

Minnesota Golden Gophers vs. Purdue Boilermakers Prediction

In my opinion, this matchup favors the Purdue Boilermakers staying within the number (3.5). Why? Purdue signal caller Ryan Browne has amassed 1,390 passing yards and eight touchdowns through five games, while wide receiver Asaad Waseem has emerged as one of the team’s better playmakers, compiling 453 receiving yards. Additionally, Minnesota’s defense has been excellent in 2026, but the Golden Gophers offense has averaged only 354.6 total yards per game and may find it difficult to create separation on the road. With that said, I am backing the Purdue Boilermakers plus the 3.5 points in this game.

Hans Geevers's Pick: Purdue Boilermakers +3.5
