Over on the Coastal Carolina side, they haven’t had a whole lot of luck in the win column this year. The Chanticleers kicked off the season with a loss 31-24 at West Virginia, but then got a win over Fordham 45-7 in game two. Coastal Carolina hit the skids after that, falling to Delaware, Liberty and Georgia Southern in succession for a 1-4 start to the year.

Matched up against Marshall last weekend the Chanticleers were rolling by the third quarter and worked their way up to a 27-0 advantage. Coastal Carolina cruised from there and eventually powered out a closer-than-expected 27-21 road win. That unit gave up 505 yards total (221 rushing) but also came up with a whopping six takeaways (three fumbles). Coastal Carolina has given up 21 or more points in four straight games now.

As for App State, their defense bagged three takeaways and allowed only 97 pass yards in their loss to ODU last weekend. Trouble is, the offense had three turnovers and went just 1-of-13 on third downs in that defeat. The Mountaineers had 26 or more points in four straight games prior to that.
