Western Michigan Broncos Betting Preview
The Broncos skidded to a 1-3 start this year with a lone win over Davenport among losses to Coastal Carolina, Butler, and SIU Edwardsville. Western Michigan is 2-1 since then, however, beating Canisius and Youngstown State.
In the Youngstown State game, the Broncos went into the second half with a 36-30 edge. Western Michigan hit a 37-32 advantage the rest of the way in a 73-62 win. Tops in scoring were Max Burton (12 rebounds) and Brandon Muntu, each with 18 points.
Dayton Flyers Betting Preview
Over on the Dayton side, they won their first five straight games over St. Francis PA, Northwestern, Ball State, Capital, and New Mexico State. After losses to North Carolina and Iowa State, the Flyers toppled UConn.
On Wednesday versus a struggling Huskies team, the Flyers were up 41-34 going into the break. Dayton kept it up from there with a 44-33 run and took the victory 85-67. Enoch Cheeks was tops in scoring with 20 points and seven rebounds.
Why the Dayton Flyers will win
- Dayton has won each of its last 21 games at the University of Dayton Arena against non-AP-ranked opponents.
- Western Michigan has lost 17 of its last 18 night games against non-conference opponents.
- Dayton has won the first half in each of its last six games.
Western Michigan vs Dayton Prediction
I’ll stay with Dayton. With such a hefty line though, I’m probably staying away. The Flyers have faced some primo competition over their last three games so this one should be a proverbial piece of cake. Dayton shot a nice 50 percent from the field with a 41-25 rebounding advantage in the win over a struggling UConn team. The Flyers were also very close in both the North Carolina game (a two-point loss) and the Iowa State game (a five-point loss). That makes 71 or more points in every game so far.
As for Western Michigan, they posted a nice rebounding game versus Youngstown State, bagging a 49-30 edge there. The Broncos have scored well over their last three with 73 or more points in each. That said, Dayton should be full of confidence here and I don’t see WMU keeping a pace that’s anywhere close.Â
