Texas State Bobcats Betting Preview
The Bobcats started out the season on a spotty 1-2 run, taking a win over Texas A&M-San Antonio in between losses to Bowling Green and Tulane. A five-game win streak ensued from there as Texas State dispatched UTSA, Texas Southern, Abilene Christian, Little Rock and Texas Lutheran in those matchups. Since then however, the Bobcats have fallen versus Seattle U and Lehigh in consecutive outings. That gives Texas State a 6-4 run across their first 10 games of the year.
In the Lehigh game on Saturday, the Bobcats scored 34 points in the first half and 32 in the second, keeping the pace in regulation but eventually falling 78-74 in overtime. DJ Hall led the team on a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds while Mark Drone put up 15 points with three rebounds and two assists. Kaden Gumbs added 11 points with four rebounds and three assists for the Bobcats in the losing effort as well.
Rice Owls Betting Preview
Over on the Rice side, they’ve had a few wins here and there but overall it’s been a struggle so far. The Owls started out at 2-2 with wins over College of Biblical Studies and East Texas A&M around losses to Oregon and Stephen F Austin. Rice would lose to Tennessee, Tarleton State, Kennesaw State and Florida Gulf Coast from there, but got a win versus Oral Roberts in their last outing. In total Rice holds a 3-6 run across their first nine outings of the season.
Matched up against Oral Roberts, the Owls kicked off the game with a 44-32 run. Rice closed on a 37-30 stretch in the second and took the win 81-62 in the end. Tops in scoring was Nick Anderson on 22 points and six rebounds. Jalen Smith carded a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Trae Broadnax added 13 points with three rebounds and two assists.

Texas State vs Rice Prediction
I’ll lean toward Texas State. The Bobcats are coming off a tough overtime loss versus a middling Lehigh team though, so they’ll need a good bounce-back effort here. Texas State gave up 50 percent shooting from the field in that one and had 13 turnovers, but did pretty well on the boards with a 34-24 rebounding edge. The major difference however, was in 3-point shooting, as the Bobcats made just two from outside (off six attempts) while Lehigh went 13-of-25 (52 percent) for a major swing on the scoreboard. Texas State has been below 66 points in three of the last five games, so it’d be nice to see them fire up the offense here.
As for Rice, they nabbed a much-needed win over Oral Roberts in their last outing. The Owls shot a cool 50.9 percent from the field in that one, including 57.1 percent (12-of-21) from outside. The 11-of-12 (91.7 percent) from the line was pretty great, as was the 37-26 rebounding advantage. The Owls are scoring pretty well these days, with 74 or more points in three of the last four games (a 1-3 run).
