TCU Horned Frogs Betting Preview
The Frogs have had a pretty choppy year overall, but they’ve been doing better in the win column lately. TCU opened up with a 10-7 run, taking wins over Florida A&M, Florida Gulf Coast, Texas State, Alcorn State, Xavier, South Alabama, Montana State, Kansas State, BYU, and Baylor during that time. The next three games were all losses to Kansas, UCF, and Texas Tech, but the Frogs would hit a 5-1 run after that with only a loss to Iowa State mixed in. Otherwise, it was victories over Colorado, West Virginia, Oklahoma State, Arizona State, and Texas Tech in that time, giving TCU a 15-11 overall run through their first 26 games this year.Â
In Saturday’s game with Cincinnati, TCU took a 31-24 deficit into the break. The Frogs were outscored 44-39 the rest of the way and ended up losing 75-63 in the end. David Punch led the team with 18 points and six rebounds alongside three assists and two steals in the loss. Vasean Allette added 13 points and six rebounds as well.Â
West Virginia Mountaineers Betting Preview
Over on the West Virginia side, they started out great but they’ve been quite choppy in the record books since early January. The Mountaineers kicked off with an 11-2 run across their first 13 outings, taking losses in that time to only Pittsburgh and Louisville. A 4-6 run came in the next 10 games with wins over Colorado, Iowa State, Cincinnati, and Utah among losses to Arizona, Houston, Arizona State, Kansas State, Houston, and TCU. After losses to BYU and Baylor in the next pair, WVU took out Cincinnati to move to 16-10 overall on the year through their initial 26 outings.Â
Matched up against Texas Tech over the weekend, the Mountaineers were down by three points heading into the break. WVU didn’t get any closer than that on a 43-24 run the rest of the way and lost 73-51 in the end. Tops in scoring was Amani Hansberry with a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds. Javon Small added 10 points with five assists and two rebounds, while Eduardo Andre had six points in 15 minutes of work off the bench.Â

TCU vs West Virginia PredictionÂ
I’ll probably lean toward West Virginia here, but you could call it either way. The Mountaineers aren’t looking especially appealing after the loss to Texas Tech over the weekend either. In that one, West Virginia shot a miserable 32.8 percent from the field and 22.2 percent (6-of-27) from 3-point range alongside a 41-31 rebounding deficit. That gives the Mountaineers three losses in four games, and they’ve been below 70 points in three of the last four as well.Â
Back on February 5 when these teams last met up, the Frogs took a 65-60 win at home. In that one, West Virginia lost out on the rebounding battle 34-26 but did score 23 points off 15 TCU turnovers. Statistically, the teams were mostly comparable otherwise, however, TCU hit 20 free throws to the Mountaineers’ two. West Virginia needs a better overall effort in the rematch but should get a lift from being at home.Â
