Saint Thomas MN Tommies Betting Preview
This year the Tommies opened on a spotty run but they’ve been pretty good since late November. St. Thomas MN lost to Oklahoma State, Arizona State, Wofford, and Milwaukee in their first eight outings, then beat Chicago State, Northern Colorado, Montana, Western Michigan, Crown College, and Bowling Green before another loss to UC Riverside. The next nine outings were an 8-1 run with a lone loss to Omaha amid wins over North Dakota State, North Dakota, South Dakota State, South Dakota, Denver, Kansas City, Oral Roberts, and North Dakota State, giving the Tommies an 18-6 run through their first 24 games of the year.Â
In their Thursday game versus North Dakota State, the Tommies were looking solid after the first half holding a 42-41 lead. St. Thomas MN hit the skids after that though, coughing up a whopping 61 second-half points on the way to a 102-86 loss. All five starters finished in double-figures, including Drake Dobbs with 23 points and four rebounds in 31 minutes.Â
Denver Pioneers Betting Preview
Over on the Denver side, they were .500 in early December but have slipped mightily since then. The Pioneers beat Western Colorado, Colorado Christian, Montana State, Sacramento State, Portland State, and Colorado-Colorado Springs in their first 12 games. After a losing streak versus Cal State Fullerton, Cal Poly, Northern Colorado, South Dakota State, South Dakota, North Dakota, North Dakota State, Omaha, and St. Thomas MN, Denver took out Oral Roberts and Kansas City. After another loss to Omaha, Denver had an 8-16 record in their first 24 games of the year.Â
Matched up against South Dakota on Thursday, the Pioneers were up 42-39 going into the second half. Denver was outscored 47-37 the rest of the way, however, and ended up falling 86-79 in the end. Leading the team in scoring was DeAndre Craig with 19 points and six rebounds. Pedro Lopez-Sanvicente came off the bench to provide 12 points with six rebounds, two steals, one block, and one assist in 20 minutes. Both Sebastian Akins and Isaiah Addo-Ankrah chipped in 10 points each as well, combining for 11 rebounds.Â

St. Thomas MN vs Denver PredictionÂ
I’ll stay with the Tommies. I’m not as jazzed about them following their latest loss this week, though. On Thursday St. Thomas MN did a good job shooting with 48.3 percent from the field and 91.3 percent (21-of-23) from the line. That said, the Tommies also gave up 59.6 percent shooting on the other side and got outmuscled on the boards 38-22. The 11 turnovers for 16 South Dakota State points didn’t help either. St. Thomas MN has still been scoring well lately though, so I like a pretty good total on Saturday.Â
These teams have seen each other before, back on January 18 in a 74-62 home win for St. Thomas MN. In that one, the Tommies shot slightly better (48.9 percent to 46.9 percent) and got out-rebounded 30-24. Denver coughed up 16 turnovers for 22 St. Thomas MN points, however. In this rematch, the Tommies can’t rely on mistakes, so I’d like to see a better statistical performance.Â
