MS Valley State Delta Devils Betting Preview

Over on the Delta Devils’ side, it’s been a struggle this year, to say the least. Mississippi Valley State has been racking up losses all season—most of them in blowout fashion. The Devils beat only Mississippi University for Women and Oakwood in their first nine games, losing to Iowa State, Missouri, Texas, Kansas State, BYU, Utah, and UC Santa Barbara otherwise. A losing streak versus Liberty, North Texas, Tulsa, LSU, Alabama State, Alabama A&M, Prairie View A&M, Texas Southern, Bethune-Cookman, and Florida A&M came in the next 10 games, giving Mississippi Valley State a rough 2-17 overall campaign through the first 19 outings.

Matched up against Grambling over the weekend, MS Valley State was up by four points at halftime. That lead didn’t last long however, as the Delta Devils were outscored 65-54 the rest of the way during a 65-54 loss. I’ll stick with Southern, but the line’s way too thick to mess with. The Jaguars are enjoying a nice win streak right now, and this is a great spot to keep it going. In their win over ARPB, Southern hit 44.8 percent from the field with a 43-31 rebounding advantage. The 15 turnovers (for 13 Lions points) were just about the only rough spot statistically. The Jaguars had finished below 70 points in each of the previous two outings, so the 83 points were a nice total as well.

As for MS Valley State, their skid continued with the loss to Grambling on Saturday. The Delta Devils have finished below 59 points in each of the last four games now. Unless they can find some offense in their couch cushions between now and game time, MS Valley State will be at a disadvantage here. Southern should be able to control this one from wire to wire.
