San Diego State Aztecs Betting Preview
The Aztecs haven’t been on the court as much as most teams yet this year; they’ve only played 11 games so far. That said, San Diego State is doing pretty well at 8-3 overall. After opening with wins over UC San Diego and Occidental, San Diego State beat only Creighton in the next three alongside losses to Gonzaga and Oregon. After that came a five-game win streak. Those victories were over Houston, Fresno State, San Diego, Cal Baptist, and California. San Diego State’s last game was another loss, however, this time versus Utah State.
In the matchup with the Aggies back on December 28, the Aztecs were sitting pretty with a 43-32 halftime edge. San Diego State faltered in the second half on a 35-23 deficit, however, resulting in a 67-66 loss. Both Miles Byrd and Nick Boyd scored a team-high 14 points each, combining for seven rebounds, four assists, and five steals. Tops in scoring off the bench was Pharaoh Compton with eight points and three boards, while Wayne McKinney added seven points and three rebounds. Starter Jared Coleman-Jones added seven points as well.
Boise State Broncos Betting Preview
Over on the Boise State side, they lost to San Francisco in their second game of the year. Otherwise, the Broncos took out Oakland, Corban College, Clemson, Hampton, and South Dakota State during a 5-1 start, though. Boise State hit a 1-2 stretch with a win over Utah Tech between losses to Boston College and Washington State, but they’ve since recovered. The Broncos have beaten Saint Mary’s, Texas Southern, Air Force, San Jose State, and Wyoming in their last five games for an 11-3 start to the season through 14 games so far.
In the Wyoming game on New Year’s Eve, the Broncos came out of the gate with a 25-19 advantage. Boise State kept it rolling on a 42-39 second half and took the win 67-58. Leading the team in scoring was Alvaro Cardenas with 19 points, six assists, and three rebounds. Tyson Degenhart wasn’t far behind on 16 points, nine rebounds, and two assists, while Andrew Meadow had 11 points and six boards. Leading the bench scorers this time was Javan Buchanan with eight points, four rebounds, and one assist in 28 minutes of action.

San Diego State vs Boise State prediction
I’ll just stick with Boise State here. The Broncos put a lid on a pretty decent Wyoming team in their last outing, holding the Cowboys to just 35.1 percent shooting and posting a 41-28 rebounding advantage. Boise State shot 45.7 percent from the field themselves but did have 13 turnovers for eight Wyoming points. That said, Boise State has looked pretty good during this five-game win streak. They’ve notched 73 or more points in four of the last five games and held opponents below 66 points in four of five.
As for San Diego State, they shot a rough 38.5 percent from the field with 16 turnovers during their latest loss to Utah State—but still fell by just one point. The Aztecs had put up 71 or more points in five straight prior to that (all wins), so it wouldn’t be surprising to see them hit that threshold here either.
