Oregon State Beavers Betting Preview
After a hot start out of the gate this year, the Beavers have been pretty choppy since late December. Oregon State opened on a 10-2 stretch, then hit a 2-3 run with losses to Nebraska, Loyola Marymount and Santa Clara. The Beavers were able to regroup with a 5-2 run over the next seven, falling to San Francisco and Gonzaga among wins over Pacific, Gonzaga, Pepperdine, Santa Clara and Washington State. Since then it’s been a 3-3 stretch with losses to Saint Mary’s, Portland and San Francisco among wins over Pacific, San Diego and Pepperdine. That gives the Beavers a 20-10 overall run across the first 30 games this year.Â
In the San Francisco matchup on Wednesday, the Beavers were down by a couple of points going into the second half. Oregon State kept the pace from there on a 41-41 run but couldn’t come back in a home loss 74-72. Tops on the team in the defeat was Parsa Fallah with 24 points and five rebounds alongside two blocks in 27 minutes of work. Michael Rataj added 11 points with seven rebounds and one assist in 35 minutes of action.Â
Saint Mary’s Gaels Betting Preview
Over on the Saint Mary’s side, they had a spotty run going back in December but aside from that it’s been a stellar campaign. The Gaels went 3-3 over a six-game period late last calendar year, with losses to Arizona State, Boise State and Utah State among wins over UTSA, Utah and Merrimack. Wins over Pacific, Pepperdine, Portland, LMU, San Diego, Pepperdine, San Francisco, Washington State, Santa Clara and Gonzaga came next before a loss to San Francisco. Since then it’s been wins over Oregon State, Santa Clara, Washington State, Portland, Gonzaga and LMU, giving the Gaels a nice 26-4 result over 30 games on the season.Â
Matched up against LMU on the road Thursday, the Gaels were up 24-19 at halftime. Saint Mary’s was outscored 36-34 the rest of the way but held on for the win in the end 58-55. The only player on the team to reach double-digits was Paulius Murauskas with 18 points, 12 rebounds, two assists and one block in 38 minutes on the floor during the victory.Â

Oregon State vs Saint Mary’s PredictionÂ
I’ll lean toward Saint Mary’s here. The Gaels followed up their big win over Gonzaga with a pretty unimpressive victory over LMU—but any road win is a good one. Saint Mary’s shot just 37.5 percent from the field in that one, but owned the boards 43-26 (12-2 offensive) and had just eight turnovers. That makes six straight wins for the Gaels, and they’ve scored 73 or more points in four of those.Â
Back on February 8 when these teams last met, Saint Mary’s pulled off a dominant 63-49 road victory. The Gaels shot a nice 53.1 percent from the floor with a 30-28 rebounding advantage and only seven turnovers in that one for a pretty impressive all-around outing. So long as Saint Mary’s doesn’t get too comfortable in the home rematch, they should be in a good position here.Â
