North Florida Ospreys Betting Preview

The Ospreys got off to a rotten start this year, winning just two of their first 17 games. Norfh Florida would pick it up with wins over North Alabama, Eastern Kentucky and Bellarmine in the next four, then hit a 1-3 stretch with losses to Stetson, Lipscomb and Queens U alongside a lone win over West Georgia. Over the first 25 games of the year that gave the Ospreys a 6-19 record.

In the Florida Gulf Coast matchup on Wednesday, the Ospreys were down 42-33 going into the second half. North Florida managed to keep the pace from there on a 48-48 run but still took the loss on the road in the end 90-81. Kent Jackson was tops in the losing effort with his 24 points and two assists. Kamrin Oriol had 17 points with seven rebounds and five assists over 38 minutes of work.

Jacksonville Dolphins Betting Preview

Over on the Dolphins’ side, they could only muster a 5-11 record over their first 16 games this season. Jacksonville would get wins over West Georgia, North Alabama, Eastern Kentucky and Lipscomb in the next six games, though. After three more losses to Florida Gulf Coast, Queens U and West Georgia from there, the Dolphins had a 9-16 record in the books after 25 games.

Matched up against Stetson on Wednesday the Dolphins were down 33-26 in the locker room at halftime. Jacksonville got a bit better in the second half on a 36-34 run but eventually lost on the road 67-62. Jaylen Jones put up 14 points with eight rebounds and two assists while Hayden Wood added 14 points with one assist and one rebound over 31 minutes on the floor.

North Florida vs Jacksonville Prediction

I’ll lean toward North Florida but I’m probably avoiding this one. The Ospreys shot a tepid 41.3 percent from the field in their loss to Florida Gulf Coast this week, giving up 54.8 percent on defense. North Florida added a 42-24 deficit on points in the paint and 10 turnovers along the way. The Ospreys have lost consecutive games now, scoring a combined 153 points in that pair while surrendering 181 combined on the other side.

As for Jacksonville, they shot just 36.7 percent from the field and 18.2 percent (4-of-22) from 3-point range in their loss to Stetson on Wednesday. The good news is that the Dolphins had a 37-27 rebounding advantage and just nine turnovers. Jacksonville has lost four straight, scoring fewer than 63 points in two of them and more than 72 points in the other two.

Andrew Jett's Pick: North Florida Ospreys +7.5
