Over on the Winthrop side, they started out the year with consecutive double-digit wins. The Eagles dispatched Piedmont 125-65 and then took out Little Rock 82-67. Game three was Winthrop’s first loss against Virginia Tech 58-52. The Eagles came back with an 86-85 win over William & Mary on Friday.

Matched up against Georgia Southern on Saturday, Winthrop trailed 39-34 at the break but fought back in the second half during a tough loss 89-87. NC Central vs Winthrop Prediction

I might go with Winthrop. Realistically not touching it, though. On Saturday the Eagles had a good second half but couldn’t catch a surging Georgia Southern team. Winthrop was cold from outside, hitting just 3-of-16 (18.8 percent). The free throws were lacking as well: 36-of-49 (73.5 percent). The 20 turnovers didn’t help either, so there’s plenty to improve on statistically.

As for NC Central, on Saturday they put up a good win but ultimately gave up 53.2 percent shooting. I like Winthrop to bounce back with a nice game here—so long as they can clean up Saturday’s sloppy play.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Winthrop Eagles -10.5
