Norfolk State Spartans Betting Preview

The Spartans have had mixed results so far this year, turning in a .500 record across their first eight games. Norfolk State opened with consecutive wins over Washington Adventist and Regent, but then fell in three straight versus William & Mary, Old Dominion and Towson from there. The Spartans have since gone 2-1 with a loss to Wyoming sandwiched between wins over Hampton and Virginia-Lynchburg. That gives Norfolk State a 4-4 run across their first eight games of the season.

In the matchup with Virginia-Lynchburg on Tuesday, the Spartans jumped out to a 66-41 first-half lead. Norfolk State hit a 70-38 run the rest of the way, rolling to a 136-79 victory. Melo Baines led the team on 30 points with five boards, and Anthony McComb had 26 points with nine rebounds of his own. Elijah Jamison managed to double up with 17 points, 11 assists and four rebounds as well.

Arizona Wildcats Betting Preview

Over on the Arizona side, it’s been smooth sailing for them so far through six games. The Wildcats beat Florida in their opener then dispatched Utah Tech in game two. After another win over Northern Arizona, the Wildcats got past UCLA ahead of another tight win over UConn. Arizona most recently took out Denver early this week, giving the Wildcats a 6-0 run across their first half-dozen games of the year.

Matched up against Denver on Monday, the Wildcats stormed out to a 56-28 halftime lead. Arizona cruised from there on another 47 points and took the easy win 103-73 in the end. Ivan Kharchenkov (five rebounds) and Brayden Curries (seven rebounds) each had a team-high 20 points in the win. Tobe Awaka managed to double up with 12 points, 15 rebounds and two assists in the winning effort as well.

Norfolk State vs Arizona Prediction

I’ll probably just stay with Arizona here, but I’m not touching it. The Wildcats are looking pretty darn good so far this season; they’re coming off another dominant effort over Denver. Arizona shot a nice 56.9 percent from the field in that one with a 47-22 rebounding edge and 50 points in the paint. The 14 turnovers were just about the only area to complain over. Arizona has a nice 69 or more points in every game so far this year and should have no difficulties putting up points in this matchup.

As for Norfolk State, they posted a much-needed blowout win over Virginia-Lynchburg in their last game. The Spartans shot a nice 69 percent from the field in that one but didn’t do so hot from outside (6-of-26 for 23.1 percent). Norfolk State has been below 68 points in four of the last five games however, so they’ll be hard-pressed to keep any kind of relative pace on the Wildcats here.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Arizona Wildcats -36
