As we conclude, we will tie it all together with a summary that produces a sensible pick for a favorable betting outcome in this game.
New Mexico Lobos Betting Preview
The Lobos have a couple of blemishes on the schedule so far this year but overall they’re doing well. New Mexico beat East Texas A&M, Texas-Arlington and UC Riverside in their first three outings, then fell to New Mexico State and Nebraska in the next pair. The Lobos have since beaten Mississippi State, Alabama State, New Mexico Highlands and Santa Clara in their last four outings. That gives the Lobos a 7-2 overall run through their first nine games this year.
On Saturday versus Santa Clara, the Lobos were up 45-36 at the break. New Mexico surged on a 53-35 run the rest of the way and took the win in the end 98-71. Tops in scoring was Deyton Albury with 22 points, six assists and three rebounds. Tomislav Buljan doubled up on 16 points with 10 boards, and Antonio Chol had 13 points with two rebounds for the Lobos in the win.
VCU Rams Betting Preview
Over on the VCU side, they opened the year on a shaky 4-3 run. The Rams lost to Utah State, NC State and Vanderbilt in a series of tricky matchups during that time. The wins otherwise were over Wagner, Saint Peter’s, Coppin State and South Florida. Since then VCU has recorded a pair of wins over Virginia Tech and Samford in their last two games. That gives the Rams a 6-3 overall run in nine games thus far.
In the Samford matchup on Friday, the Rams went into the second half with a slim 34-31 edge. VCU closed on a 49-26 run the rest of the way in an 83-57 win. Terrence Hill led the team on 22 points with four boards and three assists. Barry Evans (10 points; 10 rebounds; six assists), Jadrian Tracey (10 points; 13 boards) and Keyshawn Mitchell (10 points; 11 boards) each notched double-doubles in the winning effort.

New Mexico vs VCU Prediction
I’m going to stick with New Mexico but you could call this one either way. It should be a fun matchup. The Lobos beat a pretty good Santa Clara team handily in their last outing, shooting a cool 59.6 percent from the field and 87.5 percent (21-of-24) from outside. New Mexico finished with a 50-28 advantage on points in the paint and just nine turnovers along the way. The Lobos have scored 93 or more points in three straight games now, and they’ve won four in a row.
As for VCU, they drilled a middling Samford team in their last outing with 44.6 percent shooting from the field and a 51-31 rebounding advantage. The Rams were just 13-of-22 (59.1 percent) from the line however, and coughed up 13 turnovers in the victory. VCU has 74 or more points in every game so far this year; this matchup should be a hefty total if the teams play to their capabilities.
