The Montana Grizzlies and the Northern Colorado Bears will meet on Monday night in a Big Sky Conference matchup at the Bank of Colorado Arena in Greeley, Colorado.

Montana Grizzlies Betting Preview

The Montana Grizzlies enter Monday night’s contest with a 16–14 overall record, including a 10–7 mark in conference play and a 5-8 record on the road.  The Grizzlies have compiled recent wins over Sacramento State, Portland State and Idaho, while dropping games to Weber State, Montana State and Idaho State.

More recently, in Montana’s 81–73 victory over Sacramento State, the Grizzlies shot 51 percent from the field and knocked down 11 of 29 three‑point attempts showcasing the team’s ability to shoot effectively from the perimeter.

The Montana Grizzlies average 76.1 points on 48.6 percent shooting from the field (27th in country) and 37.3 percent shooting from three-point range per game. Defensively, the Grizzlies are allowing opponents 77.1 points per contest.

It should also be noted that these two teams met earlier this season. Who prevailed? Last month, the Montana Grizzlies defeated the Northern Colorado Bears 88-79.

Junior guard Money Williams leads the Montana Grizzlies averaging 19.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, 5.1 assists on 48.8 percent shooting from the field per game. Junior guard Brooklyn Hicks provides the Grizzlies with further backcourt depth averaging 9.1 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal per contest.

Northern Colorado Bears Betting Preview

The Northern Colorado Bears enter Monday’s contest with a 19-11 overall win‑loss record, including a 9–8 mark in conference play and a 10–3 record at home. The Bears have earned wins over Weber State and the Idaho Vandals, while dropping recent games to Northern Arizona, Montana State and the Sacramento State Hornets.

More recently, in the Northern Colorado Bears 88–74 victory over Weber State earlier this season, Northern Colorado guard Quinn Denker played exceptionally well scoring 31 points on 12 of 19 shooting from the field.

The Northern Colorado Bears average 80.4 points (62nd in nation) on 48.6 percent shooting from the field (26th in country) and 35.3 percent shooting from three-point range per game. The Bears are allowing opponents 78.2 points per contest which ranks an abysmal 274th in the nation.

Senior guard Quinn Denker leads the Northern Colorado Bears averaging 19 points, 5.1 rebounds, 7.1 assists and 1 steal per game. Senior forward Brock Wisne contributes 16.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists per contest providing the Bears with a quality interior presence.

Why the Montana Grizzlies will win

•             Guard play. Junior guard Money Williams leads the Montana Grizzlies averaging 19.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, 5.1 assists on 48.8 percent shooting from the field per game.

•             Recent momentum. The Grizzlies arrive at tomorrow’s contest on the heels of a two-game winning streak, including an 81–73 win over Sacramento State.

•             Confidence. The Montana Grizzlies defeated the Northern Colorado Bears earlier this season.

Why the Northern Colorado Bears will win

•             Home court advantage. The Bears have compiled a 10–3 record at home this season.

•             Elite guard play. Senior guard Quinn Denker leads the Northern Colorado Bears averaging 19 points, 5.1 rebounds, 7.1 assists and 1 steal per game.

•             Offensive edge. The Northern Colorado Bears average 80.4 points (62nd in nation) on 48.6 percent shooting from the field (26th in country) and 35.3 percent shooting from three-point range per game.

Montana vs. Northern Colorado Prediction

Montana’s efficient shooting and balanced perimeter scoring give them a legitimate path to being competitive, but Northern Colorado’s elite offense and home court edge makes the Bears the likely winner of this game. With that said, I think the Grizzlies quality offense keeps Montana inside the number (6.5) in this one. For the reasons just noted, I am backing the Montana Grizzlies plus the 6.5 points in this game.

Hans Geevers's Pick: Montana Grizzlies +6.5
