East Carolina Panthers Betting Preview
The Panthers have had a choppy run through five games already; they’ve only managed a couple of victories. East Carolina eked past Georgia Southern 92-89 in their opener then lost to Richmond 87-72 in game two. Another win came in game three 71-70 versus Elizabeth City State, but East Carolina would drop game four 85-60 versus UNC Wilmington. That would give the Pirates a 2-2 run through the first four games.
ECU dropped below the .500 mark with another loss last week, this time versus Charleston Southern. The Pirates were down by seven at the break and didn’t get any closer in the end during a 77-65 loss. Giovanni Emejuru led the team with 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Jordan Riley had 15 points with six boards and two assists. Tybo Bailey chipped in 12 potins in 34 minutes during the losing effort as well.
Michigan State Spartans Betting Preview
Over on the Spartans’ side, they’ve got five games in the bag so far this year, and five wins to show for it. The Spartans got past Colgate 80-69 in their opener, then powered through a win over a good Arkansas team 69-66 in game two. Game three was a big win 79-69 over San Jose State, and Michigan State would keep it going with another win over Kentucky in game four by a score of 83-66.
Matched up against Detroit last Friday, the Spartans didn’t have too many troubles. Michigan State was up 41-25 by the break then finished off on a 43-31 run for an 84-56 blowout win. Leading the way was Jeremy Fears with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Both Coen Carr (seven rebounds) and Jaxon Kohler (four rebounds) had 13 points each, and Carson Cooper chipped in with 12 points and six boards in 20 minutes of work on the floor during the victory effort.

East Carolina vs Michigan State Prediction
I’ll lean toward Michigan State, but I’m probably not touching this one. The Spartans most certainly will get another win here (barring a huge breakdown) and the only question is the margin. Michigan State shot a solid 45.9 percent from the field with a 39-28 rebounding advantage in their blowout win over Detroit. The only minor gripe was the 12 turnovers, but even that wasn’t a big deal. Michigan State already has a couple of tough wins in the bag over Arkansas and Kentucky. So long as they’re not looking past this one to the looming matchup with North Carolina on Thursday, the Spartans should be fine.
As for ECU, they shot fairly well from the field (43.1 percent) in their loss to Charleston Southern but also hit just two of 11 (18.2 percent) from outside and 13-of-24 (54.2 percent) from the line in the 12-point loss. That makes fewer than 66 points in consecutive games for the Pirates, and I don’t think they’ll stay too close here for long.
