Marquette Golden Eagles Betting Preview
Marquette just finished off a pretty choppy February, but overall they’ve done well in the record column otherwise. The Golden Eagles went 9-2 over their first 11 outings with losses to Iowa State and Dayton, then took out Butler, Xavier, Providence, Creighton, Georgetown and DePaul before a loss to Xavier. Wins over Seton Hall, Villanova and Butler came next, then losses to UConn, St. John’s and Creighton. Since then it’s been a 3-1 run with a loss to Villanova among wins over DePaul, Seton Hall and Providence. That gives the Eagles a 21-7 overall record so far this season.Â
In the Providence matchup at home on Tuesday, the Golden Eagles held a 43-32 edge by the break. Marquette kept it up from there on a 39-20 run and took the win in the end 82-52. Topping the scorers during the victory were Ben Gold (six rebounds; one assist) and Kam Jones (seven assists; two rebounds; two steals), each with 17 points. Stevie Mitchell was in double-figures during the win as well, notching 14 points with four rebounds, four assists and one steal in 21 minutes of work on the court.Â
Georgetown Hoyas Betting Preview
Over on the Georgetown side, they started out great but they’ve struggled since early January. The Hoyas hit a 12-2 run out of the gate, losing to only Notre Dame and West Virginia. A 1-6 run came next with a lone win over Villanova among losses to Marquette, UConn, St. John’s, DePaul, Providence and St. John’s again, then a 3-2 run with losses to Xavier and Butler among wins versus Butler, Seton Hall and Providence. The last two games have both been losses for Georgetown, as they’ve been dispatched by Creighton and UConn. That gives the Hoyas a 16-12 overall record across 28 games so far this year.Â
In the UConn matchup back on Wednesday, the Hoyas were facing a seven-point deficit 42-35 going into the second half. Georgetown hit a 51-44 run the rest of the way and ended up losing 93-79 in the end. Top scorer Micah Peavey put up 25 points with three assists and two rebounds in 40 minutes of work during the defeat. Jayden Epps chipped in with 13 points, two steals, one rebound and one assist in 35 minutes, while Curtis Williams led the bench scoring on six points with one steal in 13 minutes on the court.Â

Marquette vs Georgetown PredictionÂ
I’ll stick with Marquette. The Eagles got past a struggling Providence team pretty easily in their last game, hitting 44.3 percent from the field with a 39-34 rebounding edge and 19 points off 18 Friars turnovers. Marquette held Providence to just 33.9 percent shooting on the other side as well. That gives the Eagles a 3-1 run over the last four games, and they’ve hit 80 points or more in two of the last three.Â
Marquette managed a 74-66 home win the last time these teams met up back on January 7. The Eagles didn’t shoot well in that one (35.6 percent) but scored 20 points off 19 Hoyas turnovers. Marquette needs a much better effort in the road rematch, as they won’t be able to rely so heavily on mistakes this time.Â
