Georgia State Panthers Betting Preview
Georgia State has had a pretty rocky year so far, but they’ve been doing better since late January. The Panthers opened on a 4-10 run featuring losses to Mississippi State, Jacksonville State, Austin Peay, Kentucky, Kennesaw State, Charlotte, Auburn, Troy, Mercer, and South Alabama. After three straight wins, Georgia State took losses to Texas State, Arkansas State, Marshall, and James Madison. The next eight games, however, were a much better 6-2 run with losses to only App State and James Madison. Otherwise, it was wins over Marshall, LA Monroe, Buffalo, Old Dominion, App State, and Old Dominion again during that time. That would give the Panthers a 13-16 overall run through the first 29 games.Â
In their Wednesday matchup with Coastal Carolina, the Panthers were down by one point at the break. Georgia State couldn’t make the comeback though, hitting a 44-39 run the rest of the way toward an 80-74 loss. Leading scorer Jelani Hamilton put up 25 points with four rebounds to lead the way. Zarique Nutter added 14 points with three assists off the bench.Â
Georgia Southern Eagles Betting Preview
Over on the Georgia Southern side, they’ve had an up-and-down campaign for a .500 mark on the season so far. The Eagles went 8-6 to kick things off, losing to UNC Wilmington, William & Mary, Drake, VCU, LA Tech, and Texas State along the way. A 3-3 run came next with losses to South Alabama, Georgia State, and Marshall before wins over Coastal Carolina (twice) and Old Dominion. It’s been a 4-6 stretch since then with losses to Marshall, Troy, Southern Miss, James Madison (twice), and App State. In total that gives the Eagles a 15-15 overall record.Â
Matched up against App State on Tuesday, the Eagles went into the locker room sporting a 32-27 edge. Georgia Southern hit a 32-29 deficit from there but held on for the win in the end 61-59. Leading the team in scoring was Nakavieon White with 17 bench points, six rebounds, and two assists. Eugene Brown was the only other team player in double-figures with 13 points, two steals, and one rebound in 30 minutes of action.Â

Georgia State vs Georgia Southern PredictionÂ
I’ll take a stab at the Eagles here, but you could call it either way. Georgia Southern took out a pretty good App State team in their last outing, despite posting a 41-34 rebounding deficit. The Eagles had been scoring very well prior to that, with 72 or more points in six straight games.Â
These teams last saw each other back on January 8 in an 82-78 overtime road loss for Georgia Southern. In that one, neither team shot well (both below 40 percent). The rebounding (a 48-44 advantage for the Panthers) and turnovers (an 11-13 advantage for the Eagles) were comparable as well. Georgia Southern hit just eight of their 16 free throws however, and Georgia State went 24-of-30 (80 percent)—that was really the difference in the game. The Eagles have a lot to clean up but may well hold their own in this home rematch.Â
