Over on the Saint Mary’s side, they won their first eight games this year versus Saint Thomas-Minnesota, Chattanooga, Ohio, North Texas, Arkansas State, UC Merced, Wichita State and Virginia Tech. It’s been a 1-2 run since then however, with a win over Davidson in between losses to Vanderbilt and Boise State. In total that gives Saint Mary’s a 9-2 run through 11 games this year.

In the Boise State matchup on Sunday, the Gaels were down by five at halftime. Saint Mary’s hit a 35-31 run the rest of the way but ended up losing 68-67. Paulius Murauskas doubled up on 21 points and 11 boards in the defeat and Joshua Dent had 16 points with six assists. Dillan Shaw had double-figures as well with 12 points and four boards in the losing effort.

I’ll take a stab on the Owls but you could make a case either way. FAU ran over a struggling Albany team in their last game, shooting 55.9 percent from the field and 45.7 percent (16-of-35) from outside along with a 38-24 advantage on the boards. Florida Atlantic has three straight wins in the bag now, scoring 81 or more points in all three and 105 or more in each of the last two.

As for St. Mary’s, they couldn’t quite finish off the road comeback versus Boise State in their last game. The Gaels shot just 36.8 percent from the field in that one but did well from the line (20-of-24 for 83.3 percent) and on the boards (a 30-28 advantage). St. Mary’s had scored 70 or more points in every game prior to that, so this one should be a fairly high total as well.
