East Texas A&M Lions Betting Preview
The Lions have had a pretty terrible year so far with only a few scattered wins here and there. East Texas A&M opened on a rough 1-10 run with only a win over Southern on November 13 as their lone bright spot. Following another win over Abilene Christian, the Lions fell to South Florida, McNeese, Nicholls, Northwestern State, UTRGV, New Orleans, SE Louisiana, Lamar, and Stephen F Austin before taking out Northwestern State on February 1. After that came losses to Texas A&M-CC, Nicholls, McNeese State, Lamar, and Stephen F Austin. That would give the Lions a 3-24 overall record through 27 games.Â
In their Saturday matchup with SE Louisiana, the Lions were outscored 43-32 in the first and 40-33 in the second on the way to an 83-65 defeat. TJ Thomas topped the team in the losing effort with 17 points, two rebounds, and two steals.Â
New Orleans Privateers Betting Preview
Over on the New Orleans side, they’ve similarly struggled in the win column so far this year. The Privateers won two of their first six outings, taking out Lindenwood and Tulane in that time. Following losses to Baylor, Nicholls, Iowa, Texas, LSU, McNeese, Vanderbilt, UTRGV, Texas A&M-CC, and SE Louisiana, the Privateers beat Lamar and East Texas A&M. Afterward came losses to Northwestern State, Houston Christian, Incarnate Word, SE Louisiana, Stephen F Austin, Houston Christian, Incarnate Word, McNeese and Nicholls. The result was a 4-23 record across the first 27 games of the year for New Orleans.Â
Matched up against Northwestern State over the weekend, the Privateers were looking at a 39-24 deficit by halftime. New Orleans got better from there on a 42-34 run but it wasn’t enough in a 73-66 loss. Kohen Rowbatham was the team’s high scorer with 20 points, two rebounds, and three assists. Luke Davis added 17 points with nine rebounds and two steals, while MJ Thomas had 11 points with nine rebounds, four steals and three assists.Â

East Texas A&M vs New Orleans PredictionÂ
I’m going to lean toward New Orleans. Probably not touching this one, though; it could go either way and there’s not a lot to get excited about here anyway. That said, the Privateers do need a good effort here. New Orleans’ losing streak continued with a defeat by Northwestern State over the weekend. That gives the Privateers 10 straight losses, and they’ve given up 73 or more points in 11 straight games overall.Â
The last time these teams met up back on January 18, New Orleans pulled off a road win 82-73. The Privateers shot a nice 56 percent from the field in that one but did miss 10 of their 27 free throws (63 percent) and got out-rebounded 32-26. The 14 turnovers for 23 Lions points didn’t help either, but East Texas A&M was even sloppier with the ball on 21 turnovers for 25 New Orleans points. Hopefully, both teams can clean up their miscues in this rematch, and I like New Orleans to power one out if they can get the rebounding going a little better.Â
