Over on the DePaul side, they’ve opened up the year versus Chicago State in a 92-62 blowout. Layden Blocker posted 16 points with four assists in that one. In their second game the Blue Demons played Stonehill. DePaul won 72-64 despite a five-point deficit in the second half. Leading the scoring was CJ Gunn with 28 points and six boards. In game three versus Buffalo, DePaul took their first defeat by a score of 66-53. Matched up against Gardner-Webb this past Tuesday, DePaul came out of the locker room sporting a nice 48-24 edge. The Demons didn’t look back from there on a 45-38 run and took the win 93-62 in the end. Detroit vs DePaul Prediction
I’ll lean toward DePaul. With that line you could probably call this one either way, though. The Blue Demons didn’t have too many issues with Gardner-Webb in their last outing, shooting a smooth 55.4 percent from the field with 13-of-16 (81.3 percent) from the line, 29 team assists and a 48-30 advantage on points in the paint. If there are areas to complain about (however minor), it’s in rebounding (a 35-32 deficit) or turnovers (14). It’s been a decent run for DePaul so far—outside of a rough loss to Buffalo and a two-point defeat by Northwestern. The Blue Demons have been scoring well with 72 or more points in four of five games. If they can keep that run going DePaul should be looking good.
