Coastal Carolina Chanticleers Betting Preview
The Chanticleers were able to maintain form well enough to stay above .500 over their first 15 games, however, it’s been nothing but losses since then. During that initial 8-7 run, Coastal Carolina took losses to East Carolina, NC State, Jacksonville State, Alabama A&M, Winthrop, Arkansas State, and Louisiana. Over this current 0-5 stretch however, the Chanticleers have fallen to Appalachian State, Georgia State, Georgia Southern, Marshall, and Georgia Southern again, giving Coastal Carolina an 8-12 record over their first 20 games of the year so far.
In the Georgia Southern road rematch on Thursday, the Chanticleers held a 37-24 deficit by the break. Coastal Carolina was blitzed 48-34 the rest of the way and ended up with a blowout loss of 85-58 in the end. Leading the team in scoring with 15 points, four rebounds and three assists off the bench in 30 minutes was Joshua Meo. Tops among starters were RaSheed Jones (two rebounds; one steal) and Jordan Battle (four rebounds), each with 11 points in the loss.
Old Dominion Monarchs Betting Preview
Over on the Old Dominion side, they had one nice run going in December/January, but aside from that it’s been quite a difficult campaign so far. The Monarchs opened on a 3-8 stretch, falling versus Buffalo, Arizona, Radford, Boston College, High Point, Duquesne, George Washington, and Northeastern along the way. A 5-1 stretch came next, featuring wins over Louisiana Monroe, Virginia Wesleyan, Southern Miss, Louisiana, and South Alabama. Since then Old Dominion has dropped three straight versus App State, Georgia Southern, and James Madison, giving the team an 8-12 run through 20 games this season.
Matched up against James Madison in their Wednesday outing, the Monarchs were behind by eight points in the locker room. Old Dominion didn’t get any closer on a 37-31 deficit in the second half and limped to the loss 74-60 by the game’s end. Robert Davis led the team with 23 points and four rebounds, while Sean Durugordon doubled up on 10 boards and 10 points alongside five steals in 36 minutes of work on the court.

Coastal Carolina vs Old Dominion Prediction
I’ll stick with Coastal Carolina. I’m probably not touching this one, but it should at least be competitive. The Chanticleers lost badly to a middling Georgia Southern team in their last outing, shooting just 38 percent from the field with a 43-32 rebounding deficit and a whopping 19 turnovers. Coastal Carolina has given up 74 or more points in each installment of this current five-game losing streak.
As for Old Dominion, they shot just 32.7 percent from the field and 3-of-19 from 3-point range (15.8 percent) in their 14-point home loss to James Madison. The Monarchs have been below 64 points in three straight games now (all losses) so it’s hard to imagine them putting up a big number here. With that in mind, I think Coastal Carolina can keep pace. All of that said, however, there’s not a whole lot to get excited about in this one if you’re not a fan of either team. I’m staying away.
